June 3rd turned out to be a very busy day. Had worked out a swap of my red open brain with the LFS owner (he had someone who wanted one, and had found me another one). New brain was supposed to come in on Wednesday, but showed up today instead. Dennis and I had a trip planned to our not so local LFS in Billings to drop off 26 colt and xenia frags; and of course to check out the fish stores. So had to take care of the new brain first. Also picked up a Rainford's Goby and a Yellow Shrimp Goby while I was picking up the brain.
Here's the new brain, just placed in the tank.

And here it is a little later, after it began to swell up.

Had to feed a little so Dennis could see the Yellowfins display, and the green brain sent out tenticles, so we fed it. Here's a shot of it feeding.

Here's a shot of the Yellow shrimp goby (Cryptocentrus cinctus
) in front of the feeding brain.

And here's one of it and the Rainford's (Amblygobius rainford
) over the new brain.

A nice shot of the Purple Firefish Goby

And another nice one of one of the Yellowfin males

After acclimating every thing, we headed off to Billings, walked into the LFS, and low and behold, there she was. A female Yellowfin just waiting for me to buy her. Of course I had to snatch her up and home she came (in an extra big bag). She also brought an unexpected friend with her.
Female Yellowfin

A strange type of hermit crab (can't find it in any of my books ~ I.D.ed as a left handed zebra hermit), anyone recognize it?

Randy, I had read in a number of posts that the Rainsford and Hectors gobies were diffucult to keep mainly because of feeding problems. How is yours doing in the eating department?

It's eating, but not a lot. I've read that they need to macroalgae present in the DT in order to thrive. Since I've got some chaeto hanging out of my hydors, I've left it in hopes that it will feed on that. We shall see how it does.

June 4th was yet another busy day on the tank. Did a major (20%) water change, cleaned out the sump, overhauled the magnum 350 set-up, made a cover for my overflow (out of eggcrate and black plastic mesh - to prevent fish jumping in it, and cleaned up the glass. Also moved several of the plainer zoas to school tanks to make room for the highend stuff to come home. Chemical tests after water change indicate that the calcium may finally have come down (420ppm
). Now if the alkalinity just stays up.
Also received another multicolored ricordia frag pack from flricordia today. I had ordered it for someone else, but he decided he wasn't ready for it yet, so into my tank it went (thanks again Mike). Ten very healthy florida ricordias.

After things were reorganized and sort of put back together, I snapped a few pictures of the three brains and the fish
Green brain

Orange/Red brain

and the Red (still residing in my tank till next Saturday)

Yellowfin pair (male and female)

Male Yellowfin displaying

Male Yellowfin eating

Yellowfin and Purple Firefish Goby

June 5th, after cleaning up my mess from the day before, I got to spend a pretty lazy day enjoying the tank and snapping more pictures. Many are redundent of the previous few days, but here's a few full tank shots.

And one from a different angle

Side view of Purple Feather Duster to top it off.

(more pics forthcoming, but I've got to run and take care of the blind thermos ~ it finally arrived
)

Hey! The fish are beautiful, but somehow you ended up with two males???
Dang that sucks! Your male looks just like my old yellowfin.
And the brains have great colors!!
Well I did lose my filamented flasher wrasse on friday night.
I guess the chromis finally got to him. I tried to catch him for awhile today, but I gues Im going to have to try the 2-litre bottle trick.

I PMed you the pick of the idaho grape frag.

Thanks, yah I actually got three males in the initial order instead of one male and two females, one was DOA. Added a female, and am hoping to add a second next week, have to see.
Sorry about your lose, the bottle trick is actually real easy ~ I just used a water bottle to catch mine. Cut the top off where it gets wide, invert and insert into the main portion. bait with food and you should have that little sucker in no time ~ with a damsel, I would watch fairly closely and take it out (maybe even cover the end with a net as you do) ASAP, once he's in it.
Saw the picture of the grape, very excited
. PM me shipping address if you get a chance, and I'll send my frag out on Monday, when I ship the thermos, and some orchids I have to get in the mail. Once you get mine, you should be able to use the same set-up box to ship back ~ sound good
.

This gets better by the day. I want the little money tree you have growing Randy! Wanna send it over? Guess who is going to be getting a 3 head Darth Maul in a week or two? The guy I mentioned to you last night has a small colony from Australia and he is going to release 3 heads from it. Want any?
