I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED
Her HCT was only 24 :( And her wbc was 27...so teh dr put her BACK On antibiotics, but this time doxycycin
He said to continue the steroids, and bring her back next Friday for another blood test....I KNOW 24 is up from 19....BUT I was so hoping for a higher #
OH he gave me Frontline for the fleas.....said it was the gentlest

When I first got my snakes, they all had ticks and mites. I bathed them in citrus shampoo per the vet, and then I did garlic oil rubs (my idea). Yeah they couldn't slither much for a day after, but the vermin were gone.
Just thought I'd throw that in to consider. Ok, may be not....

Just got back from the vet...today it was the woman dr.....she is the one who likes to send the blood out, so NO results until tomorrow
ANYWAY...last Friday I treated Pixie with frontline......she still has fleas, so I asked what to do.....the dr says the best thing is the pill (codisl???) I forget.....anyway BUT she will not give it to her until she is "normal" SO I asked what could I do......she said I could bath her with DAWN dish detergent
The dr said......NOT to do it often cause it will dry her skin out, BUT Dawn will leave a film on her that will kill the fleas
SO ANYWAY.....this week Pixie has a little more spring in her step...and HAS NOT (KNOCK ON WOOD) had any accidents in the house....I am still keeping hte carpet covered up.....altho I am very tempted to get rid of these damn tableclothes in my room.....every move they make at night..I hear crinkle crinkle

I will update tomorrow with the blood results
OH YEAH.......does steroids make them smell????? I bathed her Wednesday night again cause she stunk :( I just used a gently puppy shampoo

Sounds great!
From my experiences, steroids and antibiotics can make dogs (and humans) smell. Fleas do it too.

Taking Pixie for her 2 week blood test/check up
I am happy to say she has not had an accident in the house for 2 weeks, and all tableclothes and most of the wee wee pads are off the floor

she had her last antibiotic pill Wednesday morning....still on 1/2 a steroid a day.....these bllod tests will tell us more
She is ALMOST back to normal acting, altho there is something different about her. IDK if she will ever be 100% as she was before, as she went thru a lot. She is still on my heels at all times though...LOL...my new buddy I guess

I DO need to figure out a way to get both dogs to lose some weight though.,.....I am currently switching over to Purina One Smart blend Lamb & Rice.....It has been mixed in with their other food. Don't know what else to do...they are house dogs....

When Emmy was on steroids he followed me everywhere. I felt so bad because he was starving 24/7. Prior he never begged for food ... ever. And he would always pick a cuddle over food, but not after the steroids. Food was #1. Are you the main food preparer in the house?
He also growled at the Beagle all the time and there was a couple of tiffs. It was hard to see.

OH YEAH.....I am the main cook, dog feeder, waterer....you name it.....LOL...
Funny thing is, she is a picker...she picks at her food all day long....never eats it all at once.....Rosie (pug) is the same way. I have 2 small bowls tghat get filled 1x a day....NOT too much IMO for 2 dogs....and they never really empty them.....
Just got back from vet.....she now weighs 22 lbs....BUT...not too bad since she was 21.7 2 weeks ago. I won;t have blood results until tomorrow, so we made no medication decisions today. Just to keep her on the 1/2 steroid 1x a day for now......Hoping for a good report so we can start weaning off that too.....
The vet says the food I am changing to is a good food, but not to look for any weight loss while on steroids....HMMMMM....Rosie (pug) must be having sympathy weight gain too...LOLOLOL

The rule of thumb I tell people is feed 1 cup TOTAL of dog food and treats/day for each 40# of body weight you want. So, If you want one of them to drop to say 20# you would limit your feeding to 1/2 cup Total of dog food/treats per day. If they are acting hungry I suggest buying cheapest frozen green beans you can find and microwave to take the ice/frostbite off of any amount of the green beans that the dog wants.....
This is rule of thumb for the average house dog. If you have a working dog (hunts/swims/jogs with you) you will need to feed more.
