Thank you. You have put me in good company. However I think the more appropriate group would have been...............
"We graduated with the highest temperatures in our class."
Larry from the Three Stooges.

No way Henry you're a pro! You've been involved in this hobby for a long time and have lots of experience and wisdom. I never would have thought about the connection between fish poop, coral, and cyano.

HELP!
It's baaaaaaaack......but only a little bit. I really really really hate cyano. I'm afraid that if I let even a little bit live then the problem will only get worse. I keep the lights on for 5 hours, and now that I have coral I'm afraid to cut back on the lighting time. It's not like I even have especially strong lighting. I only have 2 36 watt compact bulbs. I'm currently on the hunt for a protein skimmer that will fit my BioCube. The BioCube protein skimmer I currently have just isn't cutting it.
How long do I need to keep the lights on for the coral? (Kenya Tree, Mushroom, Candy Cane)
I'm almost ready for chemical warfare if I can't get this stuff out! What do you guys think?

LoL....I'm stil taking deep breaths. It's not working, maybe a Xanex will help? You guys make it sound so easy! Every time I use a turkey baster I suck up sand too. At the rate I'm going, I'm not going to have a sand bed a year from now. Do other people have this problem too or is it just me? Is it because I'm still a rookie?
Also....back to my original questions: How long should the lights stay on? Anyone know of a good protein skimmer that will work in a BioCube?

I have to siphon a couple of spots out of my 29G jbj cube every day...there is still plenty of and...LOL.....
I use the JBJ skimmer made for the cube...works fine
5 hours is plenty....do you have actinic and white? or just one set?

If you take the tip of your turkey baster and slowly and carefully stir up the infected area you can typically suck up the cyno. Remember, small areas.
Chemicle warfare is usually in cases of a cyno take over. For example: my QT tank, which is currently housing a Royal Gramma for 3 weeks now. I have cyno at the bottom of that tank. Keep in mind now that this a bare bottom tank as I copper treat all new arrivals.
When I do my water change, about every three to four days, I scrape the bottom and siphon up all that I can.
You know what to do but I feel the frustration. You also have to remember that your system is still new and your doing great. Keep up with your chores and things will come together.

I had to tell Lois (Meowazer) over and over PATIENCE! So now I will start on you.........PATIENCE!!
Nothing happens quickly. The turkey baster is IMO a useless tool to suck out cyano. I have use the pc. of tubing I use for water changes to get the cyano out. Then a small stirring of the top layer of the sand before the rest of the water change to get anything there suspended.
The Aquatic Life Mini is the skimmer I use. I have also heard good things about the Tunze 9002.

I use the turkey baster IN BETWEEN water changes....and NO it is not a fix, BUT if you leave the cyano...it will spread
I also have the aquatic life in my 29G (reg tank) I do like it a lot....I only mentioned the JBJ nano because it fits in the compartments.....and the Aquaticlife did not fit in my cube compartments

Never never never use chemical warfare for cyano.
Look you're almost there.
sounding like a broken record.
Kill the lights and stop feeding until it goes away (again).
Now you gotta adjust both until the corals, corraline, macros thrive but not the cyano.
With just a spot or two it won't take long this time.
