Thanks Gemmy for the PM.
I'll take a look at it and see if I can come up with something useful.

Yesterday I gave my wife flowers and a card out of the blue, had her favorite kind of pizza and watched her favorite kind of movie... and today is the day where I clean the whole house before my wife gets home as a surprise. :D IF I get done with all of that before 4:30, I'll get to aquascape some on the tank.
I have THREE LARGE PIECES of live rock that I didn't use... I think I am going to take out some of the smaller pieces of rock that I have and only use the largest pieces of rock and put the rest in the sump. But, I'll read that article first before trying to accomplish such a lofty goal. :D

Yeah. Everything went as planned, but by the time I was done, I was too tired to aquascape. LOL
Eh, I have some time this afternoon and it's my wife's night to take care of Emma. :D

So, my shunted sockets came in the mail today! WOOHOO!!!!
PROBLEM...
I didn't order the stand offs with it. :(
So, I have to order the standoffs and wait another week or so. BUT, I am going to go ahead and figure out the wiring before they arrive. I can't even mount the sockets on a piece of wood yet anyways, so I'm not worried about the timeline. I just know that it will happen.... sooner or later.

So, I hooked up a couple of T5s to the ballast...
I read the directions on the ballast as well before firing it up. Glad I did because it said "Do not operate without ground." HAH.... Yeah, so don't forget kids...
RIGHT AFTER firing up the lights (the grand gesture of putting a plug in an electrical socket) I took a pic of the lights. It was interesting because both of the lights took a little while to "warm up." I don't remember a warm up phase with T5 lights... So, I took a pic.

You can't really tell on the white tube, but you can on the blue tube... where it's not really lighting up in the center. So, I let it run a few minutes and then all of the sudden, I come back to look at it and this is what it looked like....

So, nothing much has happened with the tank. I am still trying to save up some money to buy some wood and the socket stand offs. Once that happens I'll be replacing the sandbed and adding some corals within the next month and a half or so!!! woohoo!
As soon as the shop starts picking up more work I'll be investing a lot more money in the tank. Ya'll will definitely see a difference!!!
I am kinda waiting on the aquascape re-do because I kinda want to get the old sand out first.

I read the first couple pages then skipped ahead in hopes of seeing a finished project. It looks good so far! I don't know if you answered this between pages 3 and here, but how are you running all your cords without bad trip hazards? Is there a plug in the middle of the floor or are you going across the ceiling?

Seth, my T5 bulbs do take a few minutes to warm up to full color. I have a T5 setup over the 20g QT and it's always pretty dim when I flip the lights in the AM.

LOL! I wish it was finished! I'm waiting on additional funds. It was really tight this month when it came to my finances. My work place should start picking up work on Monday! So, I'm really excited about getting some financial backing - even though I have a TON of other stuff that I have to buy before I really invest in the tank. One of them is an actual crib for my daughter. LOL.
The electrical supply cord is at the bottom of the stand goes to an outlet about four foot away. There is a chair there blocking passage - so no one should go on that side of the tank anyways. Also, the cord will be taped down if there is any problems at all. I am not worried about it. It's one of those things that I have to live with - since I can't modify the place that I am living now. If I had my choice, I would have run an electrical line from underneath the floor boards as well as an RO/DI line for top offs. lol

Ah, ok. So, I'm not loosing my mind. lol
I can't wait to get the money together to build my canopy and install my new lights. I have to wait until the freakin' socket stand offs come in the mail before I can really get anything else done.
GUESS WHAT?! I also re-did my aquascape, finally!!!!!!

I installed my electrical system and kind of arranged the cords some. At least they aren't EVERYWHERE... so I'm happy with this setup. There's also no bubbles popping in the return chamber so there shouldn't be any salt creep anywhere close to that power center. I'll keep an eye on it over time.

So, now there's not a pile of cords there next to the tank. And the chair blocks passage. Just wanted to give yah a pic of this. There will be a side cabinet built to hide the plumbing.
