Emma, my daughter is sick today. :( but she is with her mom and not something that I have to deal with today. lol
So, I went out and bought a Nikon D3200 D-SLR camera today. I got a bundle deal with a memory card, a 18-55mm lens, a 55-200mm lens, a carry-all, and some other different accessories. Spent less than a thousand, so I'm happy.
Now, I really do have to plan out what I want to invest in for my tank. I want LEDs, I want an APEX unit, and I want a calcium reactor. lol. Those are the top three things. I also want some better test kits and a better heater. But, that's not really a problem. I guess I kinda have to toss up in the air which one I want to go with right now.
So, if you had to buy just one of these two...
Apex controller ($499)
or
Octopus Ca Rx + CO2 system ($530)
What would you get first?

By the way, I took some shots with my new camera.

I am still learning. Those were just the shots that I took in the first five minutes I had the camera home. XD
I guess I have to reformat every single picture that I post or upload. apparently 24MP is way too much for some places to upload and view.

Nice pics seth. Now invest in some awesome macro lens for your tank lol.
Wait for some 10% coupons to float around for the apex unit. That's what I did and saved me a quite a few bucks.
Wish you were near buddy. I would have gave you whole lotta frags to get you going.

I'm going to see if changing the settings on my camera makes it to where I don't have to reformat my images before posting. If that's the case then dang, that would save me a lot of time.

...... and it worked! YAY!
That's a pretty good pic of my yellow tang, I think. Nice Bokah background. :D

Not too bad for a pic of the feather duster. I couldn't really get a clear shot of all the feathers. Used the flash - I'll turn the flash off next time and see if that helps any.
I figure that I might be able to pick up some extra detail and what-not if I invest in a tripod and a remote shutter.

I am keeping it as a pet until it causes problems.
Kill it now... I thought my first one was awesome, now I can't get rid of them. I kill all that I can see but the keep coming back

Until I can figure out how to shoot in RAW and adjust my white balance and contrast - this is about as good as it gets as far as showing polyp extension for the time being.
As far as I can tell, this is a millipora.

lol,... Manners, I have had this one for about two years now. It has yet to spread anywhere else. I think this one is a dud. lol Besides, I kinda like him. Filters the water... fun to watch. He's about 3" wide now. Until he starts to interfere with the SPS corals I am not going to worry about getting rid of him.

Like I said, I still have to figure out how to shoot in RAW. I can't quite figure out how to turn down the white balance on the camera just yet. I'll figure it out pretty soon. Just got to keep at it. :D Pretty soon I'll be able to be one of those people who put a signature on their photos before uploading. XD

seth - you need photoshop to properly balance your whites.
I disagree, a lot of it can be done on the camera if you know how to do it right. I switched to manual mode and punched in some numbers and set my shutter speed, aperture and ISO.. and set my white balance to florescents.... This is what I came up with...

That's actually pretty true to life. A little dark, so my ISO could probably be adjusted up a little more - but it looks OK to me.
