First whole day of lights out. I fed my fish a liyyle last night. Going to turkey baste the rocks when i get home. If i can find my red slime remover im going to treat the tank and do a large water change from water from the lfs. My diablo skimmer has started to work much better in the last couple days. Should be pulling plenty of gunk out.
My macro is starting to ge established. Im happy about that. My temp is staying relatively stable. I have my koralia 8 only coming on during daylight hours so that it isnt rocking all the time.
Just took a biology exam. I think i did well. Wont know for sure until i get my grade back though. Now its time to switch yo studying for chemistry for an exam on friday. Woohoo.

Second whole day of lights out. Treated with red slime remover last night. A lot of it is gone this morning. I am re-treating on day 3 of lights out.
I have company coming over on Thursday to study for the Chemistry exam on Friday, so I want a clean tank to show off. I'm going to buy some saltwater from the LFS today and do a water change this evening. I'm going to start collecting water anyways for a water change. I'll have to rustle up a plastic container to do that with though.
I turned off my skimmer yesterday. I briefly turned it back on a few minutes ago. Man, that thing is working good now! lol I turned it off again though and will wait until after the water change to turn it back on.
My mother in law (The baby sitter) is sick today and so I'm at home taking care of my daughter today. Good thing though because I have a lot of cleaning and studying to do.

Why to go Mr. Mom, 220, 221 whatever it takes. So you broke down and use red slime remover, me too works great, even tried in my reef had no ill effects on LPS coral.

Seth not to pee on your parade, but I'm not sure I whole heartedly believe in your theory of only running the Koralia 8 during the daytime.....That doesn't naturally occur in the wild......

We've all seen things done, but it doesn't happen in nature is what I'm saying.....Just because we've seen it done, doesn't mean it's beneficial or correct......

Idk. I might be with acrylic on this one. Is that the only PH in the tank? What kind of flow do you get from your return pump? Do you get good all around movement when you turn off the 8? Or is it pretty still?
I will say that I think you have a very good handle on your tank. So you would know if it is working for you or not. What are your reasons for turning it off again?

I have a mag 9 return going full throttle. I have two k3's goin constantly and i have a k5 going during the daytime. I guess i could leave it on constantly.

Seth I wasn't saying your thinking or logic isn't sound.....I'm just posing the question that in the ocean the current doesn't change.....People think the ocean calms at night.....

Dang, SOOO sorry to hear about the crispified fish. Same thing happened to my tiger goby last week or so. These fish are such a high risk for jumpers. :-/

I turned my lights out for three days and treated the tank with red slime remover. I did a 25g water change today and inplan on doing one more before turning the skimmer back on.
My macroalgae is starting to grow really well. I guess it had some kind of dormancy period before it got kicked in high gear. My red algae is almost drad. Not doing well at all. I guess there isnt enough blue light to sustain it.
I added a cleaner shrimp and a carpenters wrasse today. Seems like everythin is gettin along just fine.
I was thinking about my lighting situation some more and i thought for the price i might just stick with t5s for thr time being. Im going to add four more bulbs over my tank in the next month or so.
My water parameters should be pretty good right now. Even better after the next water change.
I cant wait till this summer. I desperately want to build a bigger sump for my system. I also want to rework the plumbing. But, between work, school and family time, i am booked! Even right now i am supposed to be studying for a chemistry exam that is tomorrow afternoon.
I hope i can pass all of my classes this semester. This has been one hard semester.

I don't know what you mean? Link? Book? I'm confused.
Sorry, my mind is completely bonkers right now.... between chemistry, microbiology and all these stupid phylogenies, I can't even remember my own name.

I did a major update to my website, www.dixiereef.com if anyone is interested in checking it out. No, I do not sell anything, it's a completely educational website that I am using for professional development for college. Please check it out and tell me what you think. :D
