Sweet! I got it right finally.
The tank and pump come on Tuesday night or Wednesday.
I will need some help setting the baffles, keeping in mind I want to get the ASM3 skimmer in the near future and also wanting the fuge to be as LARGE as possible.
I also need to start on the closed loop as well as getting the pc lighting broken down. I was thinking of taking 2 of the 4 65 watt bulbs and putting the daylight bulbs on the fuge and keeping the acintics and the moon lights/ fan on the DT, which both are going to be challenging and time consuming, I think.
My goal is to have it running in the next two weeks. Can't wait.

That's what I did on my reef and fuge...
Pull an end cap, cut the housing and plexi cover in half and then rebuild as a 2' fixture...

Squidd,
Would you be able to tell me the dimensions and the placement of the baffles for the 75gal? I would like to figure out those dimensions so when I get the tank Tuesday I will be ready.

Squidd,
I don't want to jump the gun here but, I am going on my first vacation in 3 years and am leaving April 29th(my birthday)
I want to set up an automatic top-off unit before I leave and have enought time to test it for about a week to make any adjustments needed. I think this is a must before I go, dont you?
Like I mentioned in the begining of this project, I wanted to have the oppurtunity to add such equipment.
I want to make sure that I do right THE FIRST TIME THOUGH!!! If there is anything else that you would recommend before I have to leave for vacation my ears are open (or my eyes).
I want to say this though, I have my ro/di unit directly across from my where my sump/fuge will be, its about 25-30ft. I was thinking of extending the tubing from the unit directly to the sump. This will be eaiser when I have pics when its done. But I will leave my options open and would appriciate any insight and advice of what I SHOULD DO BEFORE I GO ON VACTION. ie. equipment , auto top ect.

1. Need footprint of skimmer you plan on using...Skimmer ASM3Width: 6.5 inchesHeight: 23.5 inches
Footprint: 9.5 inches X 12 inches

2. Footprint of return pump Mag Drive 24 Pump Pump Size (L x W x H): 7.25" x 4" x 5.25"

3. Footpring of main tank 75 Gallon AGA 48"x18"x21"

4. Footprint of Sump/Fuge tank... I don't know really
:notsure:
I guess that leaves for the fuge like 32" without baffles, I think! I don't know how to account for those. Thats where you come in I thought :notsure:

I was hoping to have the fuge is big as possible.

I get the tank and pump Wednesday :cheer:
I won't have the ASM until the end of April

Oh yeah, how exactly did you gauge the drip from your ro/di unit? How will I control the flow? Its kinda hard to tell in the pic.

Squidd, got the tank and pump tonight, looks good!
As far as the sizes go, what else do you need to know?
Size of the tank is 48x18x20
Sump I just neet to fit the skimmer, which is 12" and the return pump which is will be vertical to the tank only needs 4" So sump size would be 18"-20"
Leaving 28"-30" for the fuge! Is that what you mean?

You have two tanks....the "main" tank upstairs and the "sump/fuge" tank...
Need footprint of each...
Plus numbers above to do calcs...

Just so we're clear here...
1. Need footprint of skimmer you plan on using...Skimmer ASM3
Width: 6.5 inches
Height: 23.5 inches
Footprint: 9.5 inches X 12 inches
2. Footprint of return pump Mag Drive 24 Pump Pump Size (L x W x H): 7.25" x 4" x 5.25"
3. Footpring of main tank 110gal 48x18x30 with built in overflow
4. Footprint of Sump/Fuge tank... 75 Gallon AGA 48"x18"x21"
Is this correct and does it make sense now..?

OK..now give me a little time to work the calcs and draw it up...
Then I'll go thru how I got there...
Probably have it up tomorrow...
Actually, I think we did a 75 gallon for Leona in the "Plumbing 101" thread in the archives....
She used a Euro Reef skimmer so the numbers should be very similar...
And her Main tank was a 4' 120...
If you want check that one out, and I'll up date it for you, but i'm thinking it'll be similar, cut list and layout for baffles are in there too!!!

I read about 10 pages and this is what i got.
OK last "pic was a "Top View" of the S/F...
Let's see what it looks like from the "side"...
We have 28"x18"x18" for the FUGE so that "Baffle" is 18" tall...
Then we want to "reserve" 10 gallons or so for "back wash" during powerout...(Gray area) 20"x18"x6" ....So Our "Tallest" baffle in the Skimmer return area can be 14"...
The Skimmer needs to run in 7"to 10" >stable< water so we'll have to "lift it up" on an "Egg Crate" stand..to keep it at a "runable" level...(dark Blue "Skimmer" chamber)

My skimmer is pretty much 12x12 and I don't think my backwash will be the same as hers seeing I have ALOT more plumbing than her, right?

Looking at the "end" of the S/F at the overflow /skmmer chamber...
We see the drain pipe only an inch or so in the overflow chamber...
The "eggcrate" shelf for the Skimmer and the "flow" through the skimmer chamber, past the pmp and towards the return chamber...
Little glass "shelves' hold the eggcrate up and are easy to silicone in place...
There is also a 'cut out" in the Of/S chamber to the R.P. chamber and that is also an easy 'cut" for a glass shop....

Squidd, I was hoping to go the glass company Friday to have them cut the baffles. You got anything for me? I did read alot of the posts and seems that leaona is using the same skimmer( I stopped reading after page 14) But I know my backwash will be different than hers. Anyways, let me know what I should do
My goal is to have all the PVC cleaned and ready as well as modifying my PC Unit for the fuge and of coarse, putting the baffles in the tank. That way by next week, if I can wait that long, I will make the change over.

OK...I went thryu the "101" thread and there are a few pictures missing, so it can be a bit confusing, but this should be you basic layout and cut list, I'll see if I can dig up a few side views...or I may have to redraw them...
