Throttle it down...
Restrict the flow...
Plug the pipe...
Adjust with a ball valve...
Bypass the flow...
Tighten the screws..
Put the hammer down...
Choke the chic///.....never mind...

Hammerhead starts at 1200gph and runs to 5400 gph...a bit much for this application...and would have to be throttled down way too much ...where a smaller pump would run more effeciently

What would you recommend running in the event the OM comes into play??? Do you have any information on the Dolphin pumps... I see the use the AmpMaster motors, and thought I've heard more bad than good about the ampmasters??? I was looking at the Dolphin 5900 HHS, what can you tell me?

For your system or Leonas...??
Either way you pick the pump to meet the "Goal Flow" needs of the tank, C/L, sump whatever..
In this case we'll build the manifold to start with the "intention" of switching to O/M later...
Sizing the "restrictive value' to be about the same with either setup so the same pump can be used either way...

No, No, I was talking about the Ampmaster for me... definitely way to much for Leona... I'm trying to gather some information on them!!!!!

You folks are killin' me

I'm a newbie to salt tanks and this thread is unbeleavable!!! It's just tons of info.

I have to tell ya'll that I printed out most of this. YES I DID!!!! I unfortunatly can not read that much on the computer and I was falling way behind. My wife did it for me at her office and lets just say... Well, does "War and Peace" ring a bell? I'm only about half way through but I'll get there.
Thanks Squidd and to all!

Leona I'm sure the tank will be FANTASTIC:happy:
So many questions.......

I'm still just barely keeping up.
One day I'll have to pester Squid about how to do those flow loss calculations myself. (Can't find that pipe size and fitting to head loss chart.)

MICHAEL, Has asked me to ask a question. I guess I can't answer it good enough for him.
Why do you need a return pump? Won't the water with gravity go down to through the overflows?

Were should I start printing out pages since you can seem to find the pages much faster then me.
I'm putting together a note book with all the information needed.

Water goes down through the overflows by gravity to the sump. The "return" pump pushes the water back up a seperate pipe, returning to the tank.

Alright Squidd I'm  again......
about PUMPS.
what this I keep hearing or reading about the seals going bad on the Dolphins?
Maybe I should think about the Sequence Again.
What are the pro's and con's of the two. Those seals are like 100.00 buck's. If they go bad after a month then holy conoly's man.
That's not good.:nervous:

Either pump will work...
The Dolphin 2700 or the Sequence Dart...
Flow wise and amp draw wise the Dolphin has a "slight" advantage, and the other thing I'm not too happy with is the 2" "inlet"...your set up for 1 1/2"...
I want you to be comfortable with your choice...
I say we open it up for others to chime in with their "experiance" (not hearsay) with these pumps...and try to get a general concensus...
Of course some people like Mag Drive and others hate 'em...Most everybody hates Rios, but a few will say they're the best they ever owned...:D

Squidd,
I just emailed Tom to find out about the size of the holes. He had mentioned to me that he had to make them bigger to fit the bulkheads.
Will let you know what he says asap.

The center back C/L inlet hole was set for a 1 1/2" bulkhead..
If you can catch him in time to size it for a 2"(bulkhead) that will cover the "needs" of the larger pump "inlet"...
The outlets will be fine, they are sized off the OM 4 way outlets...
