Plumbing complete and all hooked up:

I started the leak test today and the internal weir is water tight (so far) and the bulkheads didn't show any leakage, however there was a small leak on the external overflow. Since it was so small, and since the overflow box doesn't hold that much water (low pressure) I decided I would fix it from the outside. I was able to really pack the silicone in the seam where the glass cutters had filed down the edges. I don't see a problem doing it that way...? So while that cures I'm filling the tank up with kati ani water. How long do you think I should let it cure before letting it rip?

Did another water change on the rock while I'm waiting for the tank to fill. It's about 1/3 full now. Any insight into when you guys think I can test the overflow again?

As much as I hate that answer, you are right. I guess I will try and keep myself busy cleaning up/organizing for the rest of the day and wake up early before work to see if I got that leak sealed and to see if the plumbing shows any signs of leaking when the tank is running.

So far so good. I took a vacation day from work and so far the leak has stopped. I'm just finalizing the return with loc line and such, have to drill the siphon breaks, and then I'll let the tank run for the rest of the day

Don't forget to post some pics or a video of the whole thing running. I'd like a video since I am interested in how the beananimal overflow sounds and the way your whole system works.
I really like your design and integrated in with the SCWD. I had one at one point, and I Really liked it.

Oh this puppy is quiet man. It's almost fun to watch each channel do its thing when you first fire up the return pump, until the full siphon channel kicks in. I mean it's not silent, but its darn quiet. If I can figure out how to post a video, I'd be happy to, but I'm no videographer so it would be pretty basic.

Dont you use a ball valve or gate valve on the full siphon line to get it dead quiet?
Looking forward to the pics. Did you put rodi in it so you can just mix salt already??

Dont you use a ball valve or gate valve on the full siphon line to get it dead quiet? If you look at the first post on this page you can see the ball valve on the full siphon channel (right side of pic). It's used to control the amount of water going through the channel so that it remains a full siphon and doesn't 1) just "flush" the overflow over and over again or 2) introduce air into the line thereby breaking the siphon.
Looking forward to the pics. Did you put rodi in it so you can just mix salt already?? Yeah, I used kati/ani. I will have to drain the entire system since it's sitting backwards against the wall but I didn't want to waste 160 gallons of water.

The tank ran all night and there's no water on the plumbing or the floor so I'm gonna go ahead and say, leak test: passed. I have to work the next few days but I'll still be getting things done every day. Today after work I'd like to drain the tank, mount my in-cabinet light, and hopefully get some idea as to how to organize the cords in the cabinet. I picked up a few plastic hooks in the plumbing section of HD yesterday, and some rubber twisty-ties, that I might try to use to hang the cords so they aren't in the way.

Okay. Got the tank drained and salt mixing, in-cabinet light mounted:

Put a 6-strip in the stand as well for small things like heaters, fuge light, cabinet light, and most likely a pump for the fuge.

^That 6-strip will essentially just be for things that are in-cabinet with cords not long enough to reach the power switch cabinet and that I don't need to power off individually. Here's a shot of the power switch cabinet that I built a while ago:

Dang man. That looks really good. This build is really moving along for you. Your hard work now is really going to pay off later.
Besides your SCWD what are you using for water movement/power heads?? What size return pump do you run?

Thanks man. I should have it aquascaped and filled today. Going to buy a bag or two of LS tomorrow; have to see what I can fit. As far as flow goes, I have two MP40W ES. My return pump is a Mag 18. I might think about getting a couple more VorTechs but the two seemed to work great when the tank was running, and SPS dominated, before.
I think I'm going to go with the two-island look again with my aquascape. It would be nice to try something different, like a mountain that starts at the back on one side and tapers to the front and center of the tank, with open swimming room on the other side, but the 125 just isn't wide enough.

A large brunch slowed me down a good bit, but I hung all the wiring from inside the cabinet using these hooks that I cut:

and these twisty ties:

It's not as tidy as I pictured

But at least it leaves the bottom of the cabinet clear

HAHA, I am soooo glad my room no longer looks like that
bet you can't wait until this part is done
Earlier today I was checking out your build thread and thought to myself: I bet she is so happy that she's past this part.
It's going pretty fast, actually. I promised myself that once I got the room cleaned, and the rubble rock put into the sump, my treat is to play with the VorTechs again. Then I still have to put the canopy back on, get the light out of storage, plug that in, and tune the ATO. I bought myself a nice cigar as a pat on the back for all the hard work I've been putting in (not that the end product isn't reward enough)

Wow. That looks pretty awesome eric. Glad your build is going pretty quick. Im pretty jealous of your equipment list and your beananimal overflow.
So im guessing you will be adding some furry colored sticks to your tank in no time huh?
Ill be getting my photon 48 unit sometime this week. I cant wait to review it for yah.
I know your wanting leds pretty soon.
