So we should do away with state and national parks simply because "everyone can't use them"? What's stopping you? Get in your car, aim it towards your nearest park, AND DRIVE! You don't benefit from the highways you have to drive on a daily basis? What, just because you can't drive on some highway in Kentucky, the residents in that state don't deserve that highway because it takes your taxes to build it? You sound like we should live in some 'individual isolated world'. "I'll take care of myself and my personal little world, and I don't need help from anyone." Maybe you need to find where they filmed that movie Castaway. That island would be perfect for you.

I never wanted 'retirement' from the government. I wish they wouldn't junked SS and Medicare decades ago. If I could've taken the money I put in SS into a 401K plan back when I was 15, I'd have a couple million easy in that account today. Same thing with Medicare. Give me a health plan that I can afford, I'm more than content with having that. Medicare is so convoluted today, you have to buy all this supplemental insurance to cover all the medical and prescription expenses that program doesn't cover. What the heck is wrong with Metro transportation? It reduces traffic on the roads, and it provides reliable transportation for those who can't afford to buy even a piece of junk for $10,000 (which also includes adding the maintenance and insurance to even own a car). What's your aversion to parks? Sorry but this is one of the lamest arguments I've ever seen you post to make a point.

One thing people tend to forget about Social Security is it's also disability insurance as well as life insurance as long as you have under 23 still in school. If I had the choice I would have opted out and I would have made a mistake. Getting wiped out on the job at 40 would have left me short on retirement. That's the trade off of having a system like social security. The return isn't great unless something goes wrong.

So I'm reading some of the highlights of this Tea Party "Pledge To America" campaign, and this is one ideology that reinforces my statement that the "bible thumpers" want to force their views on ALL Anericans:

Much internal debate ensued among party leaders, rank-and-file lawmakers and GOP activists about the contents of the agenda, including whether it should include a reference to "family values" — which some strategists argued could alienate the independent voters Republicans are courting.
They agreed to include the abortion provision and a vaguely worded statement on social issues: "We pledge to honor families, traditional marriage, life, and the private and faith-based organizations that form the core of our American values."

Abortion provision - Translation, "God says we shouldn't kill innocent babies, even though we're taking the rights away from a woman to choose what she can or can't do with her own body." I guess this is also how they plan to "Honor Life"? Or is this a reference to abolishing the Death Penalty?

Traditional marriage - Translation. "God says it's unnatural for two individuals of the same sex to have a loving relationshup. Send those faggots to Hell, and get them out of our country."

Honor private and faith-based organizations - Translation, "We put churches and those who believe in God above any 'disbelivers' in this country. Continue to let these 'non profit' organizations run tax free, even though they rake in billions of dollars annually from business and personal donations."

oh geeze, "woman's right to choose." Personally, I think Life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. Includes all... Not just woman... Just because they can't stand up for themselves, doesn't mean we can just kill them... And call it a woman's right...

God said murder and theft is wrong too. When are you going to start arguing against that? Oh wait you already are....

Do not be deceived. Just changing out one party of spending for another. Take spending back to pre stimulus year? IT WAS TOO HIGH THEN! Cut 100 billion dollars out of spending when over the past two years it has gone up trillions!!

Watch out people, the PLEDGE is a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Once again, you missed the entire point of my post. No wonder you still support Obama.

You seem to have Libertarian syndrome. Interesting and good ideas that ignore the cold harsh realities of politics. For all the people bitching about high taxes and intrusive government they want their "stuff" from them too. If a candidate stood up and promised to cut spending 25% do you really think they could get elected?

When people get fed up enough, yes. Look at Ron Paul and here comes his son Rand behind him. Besides I am tired of the decepticons saying we need to get back to the constitution, blah, blah, blah when they really only want the parts that further their ideas. Read the pledge, the first part is the preamble, then they go on to talk about what they propose. Does it sound like what the preamble says?

The tea party didn't release a pledge....just further proof Bionic doesn't know what he is talking about and wants the tea party to be vilified so badly he will blatantly lie about it.
I don't recall hearing any social issues in the GOP pledge, did I miss something?

I'd like to see the GOP alter their platform on the social issues.

1) Abortion is a desperate last resort, not a choice.

2) Children ALWAYS do better in a stable, traditional family setting.

Enough said. Nothing wrong with expressing an opinion on social issues. It's both sides trying to ram their opinions down our throats most Americans oppose.

Why do you think the GOP released this pledge. TO ALIGN THEMSELVES WITH THE TEA PARTY. Follow the same ideologies, they will join your 'fold'. The GOP will get weakened if this Tea Party movement gets rolling. They certainly don't want to see a third party come into the mix, weakening their position and power. Doesn't take rocket science to figure out why they pulled this 'Pledge' stunt.

Last I heard the traditional GOP platform was less spending/smaller government. I don't see where reiterating their traditional platform is aligning themselves with the Tea Party. Instead it is the Tea Party who aligned with the traditional platform of the Republican party to try to push the party back to it's roots.

I missed the point because it made no sense. You just rambled about how your tax dollars are being wasted on Federal programs that benefit ALL Americans. Just because they aren't readily accessible to yuou, you think they should do away with them. Sure, get rid of the protection of some of this country's most beautiful and natural resources that are revered worldwide because you want an extra $200/year to stuff your face, smoke your cigarettes, and drink your beer. No wait, don't tell me. "Let the states manage their own resources." OK, so does that mean if Arizona takes ownership of the Grand Canyon, the only people who can visit it are from Arizona, because Arizonians are taking the added tax burden to maintain that park? If anyone else wants to see it, they have to pay $100 to get in, because that's what Arizona will charge for entry fees for 'non-residents'. Give me a break.

Yea, yea, I know you're this Pro Life advocate. We've beat that dog to death too many times already. No matter how I justify why a woman has precedence over her body over a fetus, you'll never accept it. Where exactly in the Ten Commandments or the Bible does it say "Though shall not terminate the life of an unborn child"? Where in the Bible does it define the term "fetus"? Where in the Bible does it state fetus = living being? Of course, all of this conjecture is based on the fact that you want to put a religious book like the Bible legally over defined and passed laws of this land. Meaning, anything that is stated in the Bible overrules any law that was passed by Congress, or argued in favor of the US Suprene Court.

*sigh*

Pay close attention. I will use small words and short sentences.

A poster was griping about paying into a program and not being able to use it. I just pointed out all the other taxes and programs we pay into that we might not ever use. Where did I once say I wanted these things to end?

Why would an of us take the time to point out the many verses in the bible regarding the womb and the life there in? You don't adhere to it or find it a valid source.
