ok, so, let me get this straight,...
The 12 year old girl that the police officers arrested was African American, although they were looking for three white women?
The officers say that it was wrong for the little girl to fight back and call for her daddy when they were dressed in plain cloths, in a blue/black van and beating her, trying to take her away?
Were the streets and houses clearly marked with numbers and signs? How could the officers mistake 3 blocks?
They mistake a 12 year old African American girl as 3 full grown white women prostitutes?
The officers say that it is not right that the father fought against them, even though they did not have any police markings or identify themselves - they could definately have been murderers, rapists, or anything of the like.
In my honest opinion, I think that those officers should be fired without pay from the Galviston police department. Fruthermore, I think that the little girl and her family should be compensated by the city of Galviston for all the emotional trauma that they have had to endure.

Horse crap, When you get a 12 year old girl dressed like a prostitutte, then resisting an arrest that isn't the cops fault. Her dad fought the officers while she was arrested, while being in possession of controlled substances. Are you really going to believe, some ghetto the world is out to get me family whose 12 year old was dressed like a whore, who resisted arrest, and whose dad had drugs in his possession. Then all of a sudden 8 years down the road decide to sue. Come on this stinks but it isn't the cops.

hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhmmmm. The words I want to use to describe the kind of punishment these jokes they call peace officers will get me kicked off this board for good. I will however say this. That asinine investigator should suffer a slow incurable and painful STD for backing up three idiots with this quote "The city has investigated the matter and found that the conduct of the police officers was appropriate under the circumstances," Helfand says. How do you argue with an ER medical report? These cops are scum and should be treat as such.
Its doesn’t matter where they live. So what if they live in the ghetto. Because they live in the ghetto they are automatically guilty?
He probably had mari-juana on him and from what the report states it was probably a small amount. And so what if he did have CDS one him, he was doing what a father should do, protect this family from power hungry dirty cops that should be beaten.
Sorry man but I can’t see how the cops can even be right. I don’t agree with how some parents let their kids dress today but they are not my kids. What ever happen to don’t judge a book by its cover.

The only thing I don't agree with is that they were not in inform. People impersonating police officers is an everyday occurance. How in the world in a split second are you suppose to tell 3 strangers busting in your door pretending to be cops, from 3 actual street clothed cops?

You did not read the article properly. It did not happen 8 years ago. The article said it happened on the 2000 block of the street - not in the year 2000.
It should not have mattered what the daughter was wearing or where this happened. There is no dress code in the United States and people who live in the "ghetto" are no less human than people who live in the suberbs.
I would resist arrest too if I was 12 years old, did nothing wrong, and 3 unknown, strange, aggressive men are putting me into an unmarked car.

My biggest problem with this article is that it is very one sided. I would like to read the actual report, not a blog entry. In one part it states she had just walked outside and then later the lawyer says something about sitting outside her house. I have no idea what happened here so I can not make any judgments. But my brother whom is a police officer tells us all of the stories of what people do to get cops in trouble. And yes I know there are bad cops out there as well. But hating all cops is a sickness that is growing in this country and it is as wrong as hating someone for their skin color.

HMM I guess that is a point. After all the major statistical differences in crime between the races can be purely attributed to the rampant racisms still alive on every jury panel in america today. And there is no difference in the crime rates in a galveston ghetto and say the woodlands.

OK......First of all there is no video here! I read all your comments before I clicked on the link and expected to see a video of what happened. Here is a BIG SHOCK people......people LIE!!!! how do we know what happened to who? Don't get me wrong I am not a big fan of the police , BUT it just seems strange that this is ALWAYS about "black & white" It seems that the police are ALWAYS picking on black people. Is this really possible? I mean 100% of the time??? I live in Chicago and I see more black cops then white , how is it that these "bad white people" keep getting away with this? I think if we saw or heard the real story it would be allot different! Any one remember Al Sharpton , 20yrs ago he and a black girl made up a story about white cops beating and rapeing her. Mr. Sharpton needed publicity to start his "career" well after months of this scam and national attention.....it was a SCAM!!!! and not only did Mr.Sharpton face no charges for all this but he became a voice for poor mistreated African Americans. Everyone needs to wake up!!! If this story is true ,and i find it very hard to believe , then the cops were wrong and should suffer. But we will NEVER know the real story so please slow down
