well what are your views, normally I try not to start any thing this potentially controversial (heck usually I try not to participate in controversial threads) but seriously should we be housing them (LIFERS) in comfort for the rest of their natural lives including some of the best health care out there? free food, free heat, free beds, free everything, the only thing it costs is to be stuck in a place with others like themselves.....
I consider housing some one that has a true life sentance a waste of money. if there is no chance of parole, if there is no chance of ever releasing the person, I think they should be executed as they are nothing but a burden on everyone elses wallets. they dont have to earn their keep. they get it free because many are too softhearted to say "well if they dont earn it they cant have it".
I say forget them. execute them.
in the group of execute on entry to the prison system (after 1 chance at appeal) I would put Murderers (take a life lose yours), child molesters (nuf said), repeat felons (three strikes your out), rapists (again nuff said) and anyone else who gets life in prison with no possibility of parole.
well those are my thoughts on it what are yours?

Im not sure, Is this topic controversial? lol I predict a 48hr or less shelf life for this thread, he he. I say it should be handled at the state level on a case by case basis.. But I also agree that our jails are corrupt and overcrowded and full of gangs.. And having them sit there and WORK OUT all day just makes bigger more violent criminals.. and is USELESS without some sort of MENTAL rehab..

I agree, if they are getting back out ever and they did something horrible to get there our tax dollars shouldnt go to make sure that they get three meals a day and a roof over there head when there is obviously better people to help with this money, like homeless people. I'm sure they would do anything to be given the chance to have the same accomidations on these cold winter nights. Just my two cents

I don't think it should be considered a penalty since they cannot learn anything once they are dead, but I don't suppose anyone learns from their mistakes by being locked up for life.
Of course if they were wrongly imprisioned and new evidence comes out they can atleast be released but we do not yet have a method to bring people back from the dead...

I am all for the death penalty except for one set of criminals. Pedophiles! Pedophiles are usually caught because of someone, usually the victim can identify them. Currently if a pedophile is caught, charged and found guilty he/she will serve time in prison and will be forced to register as a --- offender in every state, city, county he/she resides. However, if a pedophile faces the same fate as hard.core criminals such as murderers, serial killers, and terrorists, then allowing the victim to live will not matter to the criminal since he ultimately will face the same fate and is catagorized with the worst. I do however wish upon them severe slow agonizing pain through self castration. Example: Place the male genital in a vice-grip, brake off the handle, give them a dirty, rusted butter knife, light a ring of gasoline around them leading to a can of gasoline and light it and let them make the decision on what their fate is.....either way, the male will no longer be an active pedo. If he is caught again. Remove his hand, the one he uses the most.

The penalty should fit the crime, if you kill someone intentionally...you should die intentionally, if you molest a child, you have ruined that childs life or ruined the innocence of the child, I dont think they should be let out to give them another chance to do that to another child, most child molesters in the prison system ARE repeat offenders, one kid, one life. repeat felons, they did their time got out did it again, did their time got out did it again, obviously they didnt learn anything from the first couple chances, why waste time and money trying trying again when history shows, there going to do it again. rapists, one woman, one life that woman is going to live in fear or have that situation in her mind the rest of her life. there is no fixing that. she may learn to cope, but its not like stealing money from some one, you can get more money, you cant Un

a person. Life in prison with no parole (obviously this person is never getting out unless they escape) why risk escape and why spend everyone elses money to let them sit on their butt and watch cable tv for free?

I dont like the idea of killing some one either.
but I dont think people who kill others really care. if there were gauranteed repercussions (death) it may put a decline in the actuall occurances of situations like that. like some one else said you cant bring some one back from the dead. no amount of prison time will change that.

I do tend to agree with the concept in general, I just have a hard time using money to justify killing someone. I have no problem with the death penalty. It just strikes me wrong when people use a dollars and cents argument to justify it.

If every day we live is a precious gift and that gift is taken away by a premeditated murder does that person committing the murder deserve that gift no mater where they spend the time enjoying that gift I think NOT

As far as argument for or against capital punishment. My favorite "misnomer" is the argument saying that it doesn't deter criminals from comming criminal acts.
What is the ghost of killers past going to go out and strike again or something? After the implemenation of the sentence he ain't going to kill anyone ever again.

I am not opposed to the death penalty but feel the crime should fit the punishment. Some people here would have us execute 75% of the people in prison and that's just sick.
Also, I have a problem with the way our judicial system works and I don't feel that everyone who is convicted is guilty and IMO, there is nothing worse then sending an innocent man to his death.
Also, there are some sick posts in this thread that outline some barbaric punishments. If we were to do these things to people we'd be no better as a society. I'd much rather make sure other con's are well aware of what some people are going to prison for and let them make their time in prison a time they will always cherish...

the code of hammurabi is a little outdated for our time but most the concepts remain the same. some just dont have any application at this date.

I would have no reservation and without hesitation would take on the duty of pulling the trigger, flipping the switch, injecting the lethal dose, or any other manner in which we put those who are truly guilty of a crime which the sentence is death. I dont feel for them and see them as another worthless degenerate that the world could do without.
