YES....1.023 is acceptable.....some people keep their tanks at that....lr, sand and fish would all do well in that sg
it's corals that prefer the 1.025
you know some people keep their fish only tanks at 1.020-1.022 (so I have read)

And many LFS will ship or keep their fish at 1.019 -1.022

I like that philosophy, and I try to adhere to it. However, my passion/emotions sometimes get in the way.

Just tested the SG on my QT tank tonight and it is 1.023 still and the temp is holding steady at 78 degrees YAY!! Now I just have to get a Fresh Shrimp from the Grocery Store and I will be all set.. I just was wondering should I turn the Filters on now or wait until I put the Shrimp in there??

Yes I have a PH in there its an AquaClear and it must be a good one because its at the bottom of the tank and the top of the water is rippling from it. Is it best to use a Fresh Shrimp from the Seafood counter from the Grocery Store??

I used a fresh shrimp from the grocery counter to cycle my tank.

Oh I wish I could send what we are getting now lol.. So I will go get the shrimp from the store tomorrow, but they might think I am weird when i tell them that I want just one shrimp as I do not eat it. lol I dont even know if they will sell me just one shrimp?? Is there any other way besides using ammonia or a fish to cycle the tank???

You can use fish food, since as it decays it will produce ammonia. Also, you can get the smallest amount of shrimp and use one and freeze the rest. The extra shrimp can be used as food for the fish when you get them. I purchased a $10 food chopper and make small batches of food.
