Nice pick on the Goniopora! Mine is doing extremely well. The longest tentacles are probably 5 inches. When it is opened all the way it is probably about the size of one of those small soccer balls. It is huge! I have heard that they do not typically survive more than a year in captivity. Check out goniopora.org they have a lot of information on how to keep them. I recently just purchased some phyto-feast, tigger pods, and arcti pods to feed mine.
I originally got everything to feed my potters wrasse, but he is no longer with us (I wrote about it on my thread if you care to know what happened). I am currently culturing the tigger-pods which are a large red copepod. Whenever I get a nice culture going I will throw you a bottle if you are interested in seeding your refugium or want to start up a culture of your own. I have heard of a lot of success stories from people who keep a side culture going and feed their tank so they can keep a mandarin. Let me know if you are interested.
Nice new frags by the way, looking good as always!
Thanks!!! I have a fuge that the cheato is growing CRAZY in and I can see pods all over the place so maybe I will take some and feed him those. Did you get your tiger pods from phishy? Last I was there they had like a lil bottle you could see them swimming in. How are you setting up your culture? Like what do you need? And speaking of mandarin I think in the next month or so I am going to get one. My tank has SOOO many pods its crazy! Or maybe I will get a scooter bleeny

I ordered the pods, phyto-feast, and arcti-pods from a site online which will remain nameless.
To set up the culture I just made 10-13 gallons of fresh saltwater and dumped it into a clean 15 gallon tank. Then I dumped in 2 bottles of the tigger pods. There is no heater in there at the moment, I am not sure what the ideal temperature should be for the pods. I have heard a number of different temps. Most people who have had success seem to just dump them in a bucket and leave them alone. I just drop in a little phyto feast every couple of days, not much too it. The tigger pods are "gut loaded" so they are extrememly nutritious.
I think I might try to split the culture soon when I have time and try a couple of different culturing methods and see which one is most effective. I will keep you up to date on the culturing and then hopefully we can meet a phishy or something sometime and I can give you a bottle.
I am definitely trying to get a nice culutre going so I can get a nice pod population for my future mandarin purchase :)

Scooter bleenys are cool but I think you should go with the mandarin. Save one from death at a LFS! They are so beautiful, by far the best "small" saltwater fish

Did you ever use a nano skimmer for your nanos? if you did which did you have and do you recommend it?

When I had my 29bc I used the biocube skimmer. GREAT skimmer for the price. Never had any problems with it at all. You just have to change the air stone every now and then.

A 5 gallon should work fine. I feed them phyto-feast, you can also just culture your own phyto. OSUAquarist and I have three two liters going right now, I am sure we could you bring some if you wanted to start your own culture. Personally though, from what I have read, I would use the phyto-feast. Your tigger pods will be much healthier/nutritious.

Matt2364 is worried that when he gets his clowns they will host his goniopora. I'm not certain but I think it will harm it you might want to research it a bit. I've heard the only things that can be hosted without harm is anemones.

Your right. The only thing that can be hosted without harm is anems BUT some corals dont mind it. I doubt this is one of those corals though. I have a bad feeling this is not going to work out. I might have to get rid of it.

Hmmm.... my Picasso clowns are hosting a red open brain with no visible signs of distress to the brain and they will nibble on it just like they do with an anemone's tentacles.
Pic taken under actinics

One of the Picasso's has also taken an interest in my elegance and has started to semi-host it with no visible signs of distress to the elegance. It also nibbles on its tentacles and around the elegance's mouth

If you end up getting rid of something, I hope you don't get rid of those sweet, sweet clowns that I had the honor of naming...
Those are some bada$$ clowns and you know it!~

..... I still wanna see a pic of it hosting though!~

There is NOOOO way I would get rid of jerkyl and hyde. I hope the coral dose not mind getting nibbled on
If he dose I will find him a good home without clowns. If I had known about gonioporas not doing well in tanks I never would have gotten it any way but I had no idea.

Well, My goniopora started throwing a fit(sliming, closed) and there was a nice open spot on the bottom of my frag tank so I moved him into there. My clowns got REALLY pissed when I picked it up but hey they should not be so crazy in it
