Everything looks SUPER Al !!!!!1
The only thing I question really is the up turned elbow....You might get a whirlpool affect and maybe some slurping???? Maybe a bit of a stand pipe to stop the whirlpool affect.....

That where I lack experience with this system - what should I put there just a straight pipe inside the overflow box - I was going to put a tee on the outside of the tank to get some air behind the drain. Thanks Shawn

I'd use a serrated straight pipe inside the elbow....Even worse case you could use regular PVC pipe and drill it with holes to allow water to enter the pipe and would eliminate the whirlpool affect.

I was planning the same thing, Al as far the the "T" goes on the back side of the tank and do like a durso deal. Honestly hadn't planned on even putting an elbow on the bulkheads inside the box. I didn't really see any reason for it?
I was hoping the T's on the backside with the silencers would help keep the noise down. But at the same time I think the noise will pretty much be contained within the canopy in my particular case.

That is how i have my FW planted set up - the top part is silent however where it goes into the sump the water is loud, like rushing water. I think I am pushing too much water through it I might have to bypass some. Also I was going to run one of the drains to sump and the other to the fuge - in the fuge I was going to have a spray bar to put a bit of back pressure on the drain for a lower flow, more calculations to come. I get going on this.

Interesting...I had also kicked around the idea of putting a second T down at the sump where the water comes in. I was wondering if the extra durso would do anything down there to help illiminate some of that noise under the stand as well. Just gonna have to try it and see I suppose. Looking forward to see what you come up with on this one.

I think if you install a durso at the sump or fuge the top part would have to be extended beyond the height of the DT, will it help who knows - was thinking of a s bend half way down the drain line then a tee at the sump c/w a spray bar.

Auto Top Off - Hi everyone I am working on all the components of this upgrade and the next is ATO. On my FW planted tank I set up a float in the sump return area, I have a 15 gallon reservoir. It seems to be running fine - these dry winter days really take a toll on the evaporation. Have any of you used a mechanical float on your SW sumps. Also I would like to make a column like reservoir with an airstone in the bottom and a submersed LED to light up the bubbles, kinda like those lava lamps of the 60's. This would be seen from the living room.

Well not many responses to the ATO - here is the new stand for the 40 gallon breeder that is going to run with the 65 reef. Thanks for looking

I like!
What's the purpose of the spray bar in the fuge?
I was going to try to control the flow from the main DT - do a calculation with the number of holes in the spray bar. I want to run two drains incase one plugs. The 40 gallon only one of them will be running continuously. I need some help with the return - I was going to run a 1" line from the pump - then first tee off to 40 gallon - 3/4" line then continue 1" to where I tee off to two spray bars in main DT - thse would be 3/4" lines. thanks Corey - I appreciate your feed back.

Hmmm...that's going to be a tricky one, Al. Assuming you would be going for an equal amount of flow for each side of the 65G. Are you wanting to get all of your control from calculating hole sizes or would u apposed to adding valves if need be?

No - I was only going to do the calculating on the drain fom the DT to the fuge - definately will put valves on the return side of things. I would like to put PVC gate valve if i can find some.

The gate valves should be easy enough to find online. Here's some pics to get the creative juices flowing...I was thinking something along the lines of a diy manifold.
