What a beautiful baby!
A coworker's wife gave birth to their daughter when she was just barely six months pregnant. The baby was in the hospital from this past September to just two weeks ago. The baby is at home and doing great. What I'm saying is that those folks at the hospital are fantastic at what they do. I know it's not easy to relax, but I'm confident that your daughter will be just fine. Congrats to you and your family! We will definitely keep you in our thoughts and prayers.
Keep the pictures coming ... I'm sure everyone here loves baby pics as much as I do!

The saga continues...
First, thanks to everyone who has expressed warm wishes and stories of support :)
I fell asleep after writing the other post at my desk, and i got a phone call asking me where i was from wifey. needless to say, i drove in and wifey got a decent nights sleep (as well as can be expected i guess).
they were doping her up for pain and pumping antibiotics in her to keep whatever was wrong with her at bay. She had not had a fever since about an hour after delivery, but they were'nt taking chances. luckily she was on the antibiotics, because she had an issue that probably could have been worse if she weren't. I don't want to go into that though.
Kaitlyn came back to the room Wednesday evening!!! she had to still get antibiotic shots until the lab results came back (prelimonary ones are sterile--no infection) but they haven't heard back on all of them.
The new problem is she hasn't really eaten very much, and the NICU gave her formula. She's not taking to natural feeding well, and this (from what i gathered) has caused her to become dehydrated and get jaundous. She's currently under a tanning booth with nothing but a diaper and some gauze/cloth glasses. There's something about uv rays that counteract billyrubin (however you spell it) and they are fighting it.
wifey and i are spending the night at the hospital, even though we're not considered patients there any more. they may let us use the room we've been in the past few days, or just in one of the lounges so we can feed Kaitlyn. Currently, i am feeding her formula through a long thin plastic tube taped to my finger so she doesn't associate formula with wifey, and we're avoiding using bottles to avoid confusion.
I was told that the date on my camera is wrong :( she was born the 19th, not the 18th. The battery was in backwards so the date/time were erased, and i was going to fast i forgot to change the time. If anyone knows how to photoshop or edit that i would love it done.
Oh, and by the way, i'm becoming a MASTER at changing diapers!
Right now, i'm going back to the hospital. I may be able to bring her home tomorrow.

You'll get used to hearing the little baby sounds during the night. Our twins slept in our master bedroom sharing a crib until they were 8 months old. It's amazing how you can sleep with little people in the room and still actually get some rest. I couldn't wait to move them to their nursery upstairs!
Is your wife pumping to get her milk in?

When our duaghter finally made it home she selpt in our room for about 2 hours, then my wife moved the bassinet out in the other toom because she was such a loud sleeper. Then an hour later she would move her farther out in the room. Finally Amy was on the other side of the room. Same pattern for about a week so we just moved her in her room.
Oh and as far as the diapers go, you aint seen NUTHIN yet.

forget that... wait until you get to the "poop up the back" stage.
Reno, the jaundice and billyrubin is something easily overcome. my son was jaundice, and we had to go to the hospital every day after bringing him home for a week for billyrubin tests. it works itself out.
also, my wife was having a real hard time breastfeeding. after the breastfeeding specialist showed my wife how to, sean just latched on and was set going forward.
this is advice i give to my other forum parent friends..
"millions upon millions of other parents have gone through the same thing you have, and have gotten through it. what makes you any different?"
its amazing how well sleeplessness and temporary insanity work together.

ooh yuk the poop up the back is nasty, and the cottage cheeze mixed with mustard -at least thats what it looked like ...eeeew.
these first couple of poops are like tar though yuk i'm with you scotts i never shared a room with the babies i left a monitor on of course but i was always scared that i would end up be one of those people that had a toddler who refused to sleep in their own bed so i never gave that habit a chance to develop

glad to hear is doing better. My daughter spent every afternoon in the sun when we got home. She was a little jaundiced and we put her in her pumpkin seat and slid her up to the sliding glass door. She loved it. The warmth on a cold day made her sleepy.
poop up the back, down the legs, up the front.....you will see it all.

Can you imagine going through a pack of newborn diapers (44ct) in 2 days? I stopped counting the amount of diapers we went through in the first 3 months. I have to praise my hubby here, he changed the first diaper in his life at age 47 when our girls were 1 day old and of cause it was the *black* poop phase. I couldn't believe him changing Bri, he was like *work with me, don't get mad at daddy, this is my first diaper* <heart> <heart> and then he would change her again 15 min later.
and to this day he doesn't complain when it's his *diaper* time.

My favorite is when the exersaucer bottom is full of diarrhea.

I also had a baby w/jaundice and everything turned out fine.
I loved cowfishrule's comment about sleeplessness and temporary insanity going together! It's totally true!
