yea its cyano, you will need to increase flow where its growing and water changes should take care of it. thats if you can get phosphates to zero.

I bought these 2 pieces of LR from one of my LFS saturday. Someone traded the rock in for store credit. I bought the 2 pieces bc of the color on them! Maybe it was a bad idea..... They are in good flow area right now. So ill try to get it off my rock with a turkey baster.

Cyano is not only caused by low flow, it is also high nutrients....what are you feeding your fish, and how much of it?
have you tested your phosphates yet? What about your other water tests are they ok?

Op bought the rock with that color on it, so any problem was not caused by the OPs tank, with good water quality any cyno will disapear.
I think it is all coraline. I bet it wont even scrub off. It looks like my coraline. All that glowing orange is new coraline growth that will turn dark red. Those pieces were a great buy.

Im not sure what it is, but I have had a Koralia 3 directly on it since the rock has been placed in the tank. Its not blowing the burgundy stuff anywhere. Its staying on the rock!

SOOOOO...neither of the new colored additions can be blown off....
Then it is NOT cyano....Cyano will blow off easily.
Is it soft..like spongey???
