Well if u read the whole forum before you post questions, you would notice that half the questions you asked were already answered. Therefore it wouldnt have taken you 10 mins to type it.

I asked 2 questions...one about growth rate which you didn't answer. It took 10 minutes because I was supplying you with info about sponges and bacteria, and protists that nobody else mentioned...that's why it took 10 minutes. Did you read it?

hmmmm on the larger piece of rock. The burgundy color has a few bubbles in it. The smaller piece doesnt, but my powerhead isnt blowing it off still. I'm getting a little worried bc I dont know what it is.

Now bubbles are something else...if there are bubbles it may be cyano...I'm not sure sponge has bubbles...I know cyano does though

I ahve diatoms in my sand still. Shouldnt they go away? Should I try the turkey baster and see what happens?

NO, this is all normal...my sand in the 29g is almost all brown....When you get your first Clean up crew additions, they will take care of it

Ive got a CUC now. They will clean a spot on the sand and the next day its brown in the spot they just cleaned the previous day.

Now steering back to course........

Have been looking around for identification. It is hare to identify any of the Rhodophyta (red algae) but I know most of probably have what the OP is showing in that picture. Here is a picture and description from wet web media that may be what he is showing;

"Lithothamnion (prolifera?), encrusting Coralline Red Algae. Here off of Queensland, Australia."
Perhaps a form of branching coralline.
