OK...Come on now...2 Koralia 1's , or 2 Koralia 2's??
Also Anyone ever hear of a Skilter 250...It is a filter and protein skimmer...any good...or junk?
Will a dual satellite 2X65w light fixture be good enough on this tank to house anything???

Got my sand today
I got 20lbs Live, and 10 white...that's al lthe store had
I also got a penguin 550 powerhead..rated for 145gph...
I will be putting the sand in Friday, My LR should be here ????? haven't heard about it shipping yet...probably a week
After I put sand in.I will fill tank 1/2 way until I receive LR...What do I need to run...filter and powerhead? One or the other?

I'd run the filter and powerhead. Keep the water aerated and let the filter pull out the dust and debris. But you know that when the rock comes you are going to have to work it down into the sand so no critters work the sand under the rock and cause a collapse, right?

Most say to put rock first, but with a tank of this size, putting sand in first isn't a huge deal. Just be sure that there is little or no sand under the rocks when you lay them down.

Yes I know that about the sand and rock NOW...wish I knew with the big tank...I have tunnels all over

I plan on putting the rock as far down into the sand as I can....

It doesn't matter, turn it on and keep it on if you don't care about wasting electricity...
Get a new light and skimmer soon, the sooner the better. Some systems do just fine without a skimmer...or with a crappy skimmer like a seaclone. I have a 29 so I can recommend my skimmer. Octopus bh 100 hob. It's the best bang for the buck imo.

Gonna disagree here, do not need the lights, do not need to waste the electricity, light is one of the components to help algae grow and you do not need any algae at this point. Bacteria will grow without the light.

You're not really disagreeing...lol. I said it doesn't matter very much. I think that once the live rock is had, the light should be used...

Okay, and yeah we are gonna talk soft and hard cycling once the rock comes in. Hey Ms. Kitty, what kind of rock did you buy, cured, uncured, dry?

PS? Oh protein Skimmer, for a second I thought you were calling my recommendation a Piece of **** (Please refrain from using profanity, this is a family site-PEZ)
You could wait quite a while before getting one, but you should probably have one for when you start feeding your tank...but that's jmo.

Protein skimmer is really your choice. On a 29 gallon you can maintain it without a skimmer if you are right on with your husbandry, feeding, not over stocking. A skimmer will always be a plus though.

Okay IMO don't put the rock in a separate container. Just use some new saltwater in a bucket and take each pc. of rock, pull off anything that smells nasty dead and then swish it around in the water to get the detritus off and put it directly into your tank. You want to use the rock to cycle.
