thats not alot of wattage. unless youre getting it for really cheap, you can do better. id recommend the nova extreme pro. more wattage so you could even go alittle bigger in the future if you wanted to.

how often do you do water changes? try more often to see if that helps. what kind of flow do you have? ive never had any luck with hermits and algae. ive heard mexican turbo snails mow it down.

diatoms. do a good water change, it should help.

id go with the 48 nova extreme PRO. that one is 6 x 54 watt bulbs and has individual reflectors, which you def want. im pretty sure at least one of if not both the 4 and 8 bulb models do not. that should be enough for a 55 and 90.

ive heard mexican turbos are great for algae.

i have an aqua remora c in my 30 gal homemade sump. works great. super easy.

what do you mean supply the tank? i have a mag 700 on my 90 for the return and it works great... alittle too much actually.

the tap water is most likely your problem. so until you cut that you'll probably have to deal with it. how often do you do water changes? change more, more often. mexican turbo snails are supposed to be great for algae as well.

yea they look like very tiny white bugs. just buy a bag on this site, dump it in and wait awhile for them to establish and multiply.
