thinking about adding ocean substrate... advice?

I got my sand/substrate from the ocean. My tank has been doing well. I also got my rock from the ocean, I did get some hitchikers from the rock, but we're talking about substrate so I doubt much can hide in the substrate if you sift through it.

So I'm starting to show coralline growth which is awesome! The tank is not that old, so seeing this is pretty exciting! Just thought I'd update. Everything is going well!

    Anyone else Roomba?

Well, I had been looking at one. I do have 2 dogs and the amount of hair they shed worried me, but the reviews seem good from you guys. I have a baby on the way, and the floor needs to be clean, so mine has officially been ordered!

    "The Cubicle" - A 14g Biocube

Okay, I have a question. I was reading through old threads and someone started a new tank with established live rock and sand from an existing tank, claiming that the tank would not have to go through a cycle and others agreed with him. The rock and sand I got came from an established ocean, the...

    "The Cubicle" - A 14g Biocube

Well, after long thought, and a few fish shops, I decided on the tank I wanted and ordered my 14g Biocube online from *****, with free shipping. Saving me about $150 from the in-store price here in Hawaii. I was pretty stoked about that.   What I'm not excited about is the fact that my fish...

    Is this a crazy idea?

Well I ordered my tank, I'm on the fence about the rock/sand. I guess I'll see when my tank gets here

    Is this a crazy idea?

Good thoughts on where to get the rock/sand. I didn't really think too much about that exactly. I guess the beach close to me wouldn't be the most ideal place. I'll have to think that one over a little. I definitely hear ya about tank size, but the wife is already apprehensive about me getting...

    Is this a crazy idea?

I looked that up, and found this:   The taking of sand, coral rubble or other marine deposits is permitted in certain circumstances. The material may not exceed one gallon per person per day, and may be taken only for personal, noncommercial purposes. HRS 171-58.5, HRS 205A-44     So with that...
