I read a post awhile back where someone had made a little hole in the top of the skimmer and placed an air stone inside to increase the bubbles. Mine works fine so I see no need to modify it. After about a 1 1/2 years I did however replace the pump with a bigger one. Works better then ever now.

I get my water from a vending machine for $.25 a gallon. The water goes through a filtration process that is unmatched by almost all home filtration units. The best quality I feel that I could buy and the price is not that bad either.

Very little cutting required to make this guy fit.

What is your nitrate level? A high nitrate level can be an indication of a build up of other organics causing the smell.
