Curious about the 2x65 watt coralife...how old is the fixture/bulbs and how much were you asking?

I was reading up about the Neptune Aquacontroller and I read somewhere that it is capable of emailing you in the event of a power failure plus some other cool features. Still in the process of reading all of the features.

I have a freshwater tank as well as a saltwater tank. Tell him to get an Oscar, nice fish and very hardy. Pretty hard to kill even if you goof up. You have to cycle the tank for about 1 week so that the good bacteria bulids up. Same concept as saltwater except it may be a littl easier in my opinion.

My 3 stripe and clown are best of frends.

stupid question, but do i need any special type of lighting (i.e. 50/50, 10K etc.) or can i use just an ordinary 75-150 watt GE bulb? I'm a little confused because I know that the tank itself needs specific lighting, but the refugium is really not for show (i.e. colorful coraline growth etc.)...

Any ideas on what type of lighting would be sufficient for a 20 gallon refugium? I was thinking of buying one of those clamp lights from the home depot, but how much watts and what kind of bulb would be most sufficient?

don't mean to hi-jack you post, but my pc lights came with the same bulbs as well, (2) 65 watt sunpaq 10k. When it's time to replace the bulbs could a 96 watt bulb run on the unit?

Just wanted to add, if you are going to do kalkwasser or pickling lime, you should do so very very slowly. Better yet you should read about how to dose kalkwasser before attempting to do so; alot of people tend to rush and screw up the chemistry of their tank not to mention the live stock will...

Has anyone ever set up a refugium without baffles and had success? To my understanding baffles only reduce the bubbles in the display tank. Any other reason? When setting up a refugium without baffles (if possible) how do you manage not to stir up the sandbed and return bits of sand back into...
