    My local lfs has a hagen t5ho 2x54w retrofit kit. comes with everything besides bulbs ad reflectors. If i hooked up 24 inch bulbs instead of 48 inch bulbs, would it be the same as over driving them? Would they even work?

    I want to get locline for my return cuz im tired of the pvc pipe being in the water and distracting me from everything else. But my problem is i dont know what i need. I have 3/4 inch pvc coming up over the edge of my tank and back down. What exactly do i need to buy to use locline?

    Take a piece of airline tubing and put it up inside the u-tube. then put the utube inside the box and suck all the air out of it. Just a question though, why are you using only a 300? on my 55 im using a 800 i think.....

    Im moving my 55 gallon to my place from my dads house on thursday and i have some questions. I have a shallow sandbed right now, made up of black argonite sand, and I really need to avoid a cycle becuase of not really having a place to put fish till it finishes. So what im thinking of doing...

    Yeah i used it and saw a big increase in coraline. All i had was a little spot on 1 rock and when i stopped dosing it had spread to completely cover that rock in maybe 1 month. Didnt use it long enough to start spreading to other rocks though.

    Or you could look up that turf scrubber thread and build a small one in your sump.... That looks pretty promising. Completely gets rid of your phosphates and nitrates. In essense, it keeps the algea, but not in your dt. Since algea is usefull in a way to get rid of the things that it feeds on...

    Do you have a test for phosphates? If you do, test it and tell us what it is. It might be a bad membrane in your ro filter (or where ever you get your ro water from) and its letting your phosphate in the tank get higher. Also, maybe try switching brands of salts. Some contain more phosphates...

    In my experience, whenever you disturb the sand bed too much you get an ammonia spike, so remember that before you start switching sand or you could end up killing some fish.

    My current pc fixture fell in my tank while it was on and i was working on my tank. I pulled it right out and nothing bad happened. still works perfect.

    vWell thats why i was looking at 250 watt ones. I tink if mine are doing ok under the light i have now, that they would do better under that one.
