Seahorse Tank - How do I cycle?

Be careful when choosing your filter. Because the dwarf seahorses (aka pixies and pygmies) are so little, they can easily get sucked into the filter. I placed some pantyhose around the opening which helped a lot. Even with this, every so often I'll find one stuck to it! A word of advice after...

What in the world is this??

Thanks so much for your help! I put him in my tank last night- he's so small he got blown around a little bit. After he found a nice spot, he began to climb around and up a shell. So far, so good! Nothing like a freebie! Do I need to do anything special for feeding? Right now, I have assorted...

    ID Questions

Thanks for the advice. They were purchased from a compeitor of SWF (they were awful to deal with- SWF is much better!) When they arrived, half were missing and the other half were almost dead. So I'm trying to save them right now- the ones that were still alive are doing MUCH better! Thanks...

    ID Questions

Well- that's the problem. They had just gotten it in, told me a name (which wasn't correct AT ALL) and sold it cheap. It's doing GREAT- I would just like to know what it's called. I don't think the first ID was correct- after looking at other pictures, it doesn't look like the others- probably...

    Anemone and Colt Coral

They've touched each other but nothing has happened- yet. It seems no matter how far away I move the colt it finds a way to get back to the anemone.

    Test Results

All fish and corals look fine to me. I've recently had an outbreak of algae and cyano bacateria, however trying to fix it by controling the lighting. Thanks for the advice on the test kit, I thought that was strange, too!

    Test Results

I just tested my tank and came up with a PH of 8.5 and Alkalinity as "high" (my test kit catagorizes it into low, medium and high). Salinity is 1.025, Calcium 450, Ammonia 0, Nitrate 0 and Nitrite 0.05. Should I be worried about the Ph and Alkalinity levels?

    Black Algae?

I've had my tank running for about 4 months. I have a few feather dusters, clown fish, anenome and snails. In the past few weeks I have had an outbreak of blackish algae. The snails wont touch it and it's growing at a pretty decent rate. Any non-chemical suggestions to get rid of it?
