For a 12 gal it's not that much. Read the label and adjust to your size. I'd put in less then more. It's easier to raise it then lower it. I don't know what you do if it's to high. I was told it would go down on it's own.

chipmaker, I was feeding them at one time,but was told you don't have to by the people at the LFS. Of cause they want to sell you more.Can you feed them frozen food and how often? Also could you use straight pins to pin them to the rocks?

I have several mushrooms in my tank (12gal Nano),but they don't seem to be doing well. Do you have to feed them? How do you get them to spread? They are on the bottom in the sand and I have the regular lights that came with the tank.

I have two GSP in my tank and they both took awhile to come out. My question is they seem to be fading in color, one store said they need med. light the other say high light. Which is best and how can I get more color in them?

You might try a poly filter pad that can be cut and put in your filter system. It removes harmful organics,metals,ammonia and phosphates.It's put out by Poly-Bio-Marine,Inc. When it is used up it changes colors.

You do have your own test kit right.? I pushed my tank and put a pair of Ocellaris clowns in after 4 weeks. I checked the water every day after. I also have a little yellow watchman and that's all I will put in my 12 gal nano. Everything is fine. Good luck.

Would you have anything else in the house that would need A/C when on vacation? Could you get a timer on the A/C unit when on vac. If so you would have to check it to see if it would do what you want before going away. We would leave our heat on in winter as to not freeze the pipes. Here that is.

PS. dehumidifiers come in different sizes, so you would need one to do that room or several.

You can also try a dehumidifier it pulls mositure out of the air. Then turn your AC on but put it at a higher temp so it won't cost as much. You will have to close windows and empty the water container of the dehumidifer. I use one in my basement with no AC and it keeps it cool.

My question is, as I watch crocea clams in the LFS I see them cough every so often. Or that's what it looks like. What are they doing, trying to move or getting rid of wanted food?

I decided to take matters into my own hands. I have a newer nano that has a fan and air vents on the top of the hood. I took a dramel tool to the vents and opened the slots a little. It has lowered my temp by 2 degrees,so I'm now happier.

The temp is about 81 during the day when the lights are out over night it drops to 78 or 79. Wouldn't the ocean temps drop the same way after dusk?

My heater doesn't come on during the day. I have it set at 77. It's only a 50 watt heater, it's the lights that heat my water. Any other suggestions.

With all that water flow how do your corals stay in place? How do you point your powerheads? Everything in my tanks seems to take a beating.
