seems I could definitely go down in size to the asm skimmer. They don't seem to work near as hard with a BB. HMMMM What does the clam attach to? do you put something down for them?

so really the only thing I wouldn't have with a BB is anything that sifts sand. And I suppose I wouldn't want as many cleaner specimens. Other than that I could stock the same. AND over time the bottom would grow over with something not making it look bare at all. right?

Is there a standard minimum size for the skimmer to work in? I would guess that the return doesn't need to be a whole lot bigger than the pump inside it.

umm I will take a shot. (x*18*16)/231=40 x=~32 so 32x18x16 I think. Which leaves 16x18x16 for skimmer/return.

looking at the mag 18pump, it has 3/4" inch outs and ins. You said I should run a 1" line. Do I just use an adapter? And since I have a 1300 gph overflow should I consider going to 1 1/4"? I don't see a bulkhead for 1 1/4 inch piping.
