    anyone know about a moonlight?

I did it! I ran 12 ft of the blue rope lights yesteday, but have a heat concern. Does anyone else feel that these may get too warm being clipped to the wood canopy? Duing the day would not concern me because of the fans kicking in, but at night? Or am I just being a scared new parent? Thanks

    Sea Lab #28??

I used the blocks and bragged about my calc levels for about 6 months, until my calcium kept going up and up. My last reading prior to stopping was at 650 or who knows because my kit is only accurate to 500. I always thought I had a bunk test kit! Anyway the blocks work great for initial start...

    Please help with sumpfugium

Fishfeak, you have to check this sight out! The guy is readily available for email questions and I just got done making a overflow from this sight. Acrylic is cheap. I bought a scrap piece locally 3' X 3.5' for $10. It was scrap so that was probably why. A 4' X 8' 1/8" thick piece was only $40...

To skimm or not to skimm???

Hello all, Sorry for all the losses in the NE that sucks! I have a small question about skimming after adding additives. I dosed Seachem reef plus yesterday and my bak pak went nuts. It is foaming like crazy from the surface tension changing, so should I shut the unit off? The bottle sez to...

    ZooMed PowerSweep

I have one zoo med in my tank and it works fine. I was looking for a gradule wave action, but this power head does not do this. It sweeps back and forth rather fast when you have the water flow turned all the way up. Another thing is that the swivel action is very suseptable to algea and must be...

    DIY fuge???

Depending on the thickness of your plexi I used to heavily scribe the top side on the cut line and place the line just past the edge of a table top. Hold the one side and with a quick downward force snap the glass. If done correctly the line will be perfect. On another note taking a propane...

    DIY fuge???

Hey guys, Would it be possible to get some more pics of your fuges? How about the overflows? I seem to be coming up short on the net for good quality pics that I can duplicate. I am only looking to make a 10 or possibly a 15 for my tank. What about the rubbermade? Any pics? Pro's and con's? This...

    T5s anyone have comparison charts?

Sorry, nothing to provide as far as written guidance for the PAR. But as far as the end caps the set I bought are tiny. I had to place the two front bulbs next to other because of my tank shape.(I mean only about 1/16" between the two). The only draw back with these is they are not waterproof...

    clams unsder T5 lighting?

Yes sir, they are 54w. My die-hard metal halide loving lfs is going to have a clam only tank with t5 lights on top. You wouldn't believe how excited this guys was about this lighting system! "You should see the lux meter", but then I told him about PAR, even though I really dont understand it...

    clams unsder T5 lighting?

I curently have a crocea clam under my T5 4 bulb set up. So far so good. I placed him half way up the tank. Although my LFS said that it would take 3 months to loose a clam. Who knows, it has been 3 weeks and no change in color, and seems to be fine. All the T5 non-believers out there are...

Anyone use sea-lab 14 for PH

Good morning all, Just wondering if anyone out there is familair with and /or using sea-lab 14 for buffer. I have a question on it. When I mix the 1/8 teaspoon per gallon in a cup of water most of it cakes up and goes right to the botom. I can stir and stir all I want and short of putting the...

    lights vho vs pc

Hey guys, I went with the T5's over the vho's and am very impressed. I bought the 4 bulb kit on line with the workhose 7 ballast. If you do go the t5 route I highly reccommend getting the parabolic reflector instead of the standard. (swapped at no charge from where I bought it from.) I by no...

    lighting question

I just received my T5 light retro kit and WOW! I am really impressed! I can't get into the technical mumbo about lux and par and all that, but all I can tell you is with the parabolic reflectors and a 4 bulb system these little guys scream! I can't hardly look at the bulbs when they are...
