how long does it take this wonderfull purple algae to grow??

IF my lfs can get the purple in at about 1" than that is what I will get. I f not than I will get the sailfin. thanks so much for all of the help.

would it be okay if I put in the mandrine after the tang? I was trying to put the most aggressive fish in last, but I heard that tangs are only aggressive to other tangs.
