Without any fish - ad the rock directly to the tank. It might a slight cycle, but the bacteria on the rock will further "cycle" your tank. Many people use LR and LS to cycle their tank.

Thanks... Some have said that they should not be added to tanks less than 6 months old while others have said that they can be added immediately after cycling. What are your thoughts there?
