    Weight and Floor Issues

Hey All, My wife and I are (finally) moving into a townhouse and getting out of our apartment (insert cheers here), it's why I haven't been on in months. The good news is I actually get to build my "dream" tank now, but I'm concerned about weight. How do I find out what sort of...

    *****

***** is right around the corner from me, they are great when you need a quick fish store fix. Just don't go look at the tanks. Cheers!

    Scrape it or leave it?

I'd scrape it off. What kind of water are you using and how long as the tank been set up? I had hair algae problems when I first set up my tank, but no where near as bad as you are describing. Good luck! Algae is a pain.

    live rock question

Adding more rock to a display tank is always dangerous. Those acclimation procedures are over the top for a reason. If you are adding rock to your display and you are concerned about problem hitch-hikers I don't think there is really no other way to do it. Get yourself a big rubbermaid trash can...

    Amonia Spike

Depends on the tank. Keep testing every day or every other day to see what happens. Mine lasted for about 15 days.

    Dead Turbo Snail

If it is dead remove it. Turbos frequently fall of the glass and are unable to right themselves, thus starving to death. Is that what happened? It may still be ok though if you pick it up and he starts moving then you are good to go!

    Alaska here i come!

Cool. Have fun. I just sent my sister-in-law off to Alaska. No I was not banishing her... she actually wanted to go! Why she had to get a 5:30am flight is beyond me.. esp since I had to get up at 3:30am. I really hope she has fun!

    cycling??

Could be any amount. Just as long as something kickstarts the cycle (like the die off from the LR). Good luck!

    calcium supplement

Promotes coraline growth (which is good) and also helps balance the alkalinity (PH / Ca / CaC03 are all related). IMO it is a good idea to have a Ca supplement around just in case your levels dip below 380ish. HTH

    Horrible News

I was going to mention rental insurance. We had to get it when I lived off campus for a while in a rental. Then got fed up with the whole thing and bought a condo in which I can do whatever the heck I want. Your landlord prob had a tank bust on the top floor and damage all the units on the...

    Cycling almost finished

Add them as soon as you know your cycle is finished. Wait a couple of days in between testing to make sure your levels are stable, do a large water change (25-30 percent), and then go ahead and add the clean-up crew. They will eat pretty much anything and everything on your rocks / glass /...
