Is this rite for cycling my tank?

I wouldn't mess w/ the UGF at all. If you are just cycling your tank use the cannister and some PH until christmas... a skimmer is IMO a neccessity but can wait (although it is nice to have during the cycle) until you have livestock IMO. I would put your sand in first to give the inevitable...

    Ro/di??

Buy the RO/DI unit. Cheaper and more convienient in the long term. Short term buying RO from a store will work... but do you really want to lug 50+ gallons of water home from a store? :) just my opinion

    pump for wet/dry??

How high does your plumbing have to go to reach the top of your tank, and what is the GPH rating of your overflow? Those two factors will tell you what size pump you will need. Most companies have a chart that tells you head height vs. GPH and such. Cheers!

    Brown stuff all over tank!

Cut back on your lighting for a little while you get things under control, drop it to like 6-7 hours... you don't have to go crazy. Get some lower GPH powerheads and aim them at the problem areas... also a fighting conch or some redlegs may not be that bad of an idea :) Good luck! I'm still...

The cloudiness shouldn't harm your fish unless it is neccessary for you to disrupt all the detrius and such on a regular basis (could release trates into the water)... sounds like diatoms, are your powerheads set up such that there is adequete waterflow over the affected areas? my 2 cents.

I've got nice purple coraline progating all over my glass so fast I can hardly keep up w/ scraping it off, but none of it is getting on the rocks  they look like barren base rocks now. Any reasons for this?

    Live Sand

Get silica-free. sterilized sand with the smallest grain size you can find. In Florida you should be able to find Southdown sand somewhere, I believe that is where the company is from?? Not sure. Do a search on the board for 'southdown' and you will get a wealth of information. Cheers!

The dif between cured and uncured LR?

I love my fluval 20?, I clean it every three days and don't have a problem, just make it part of your routine :) I like having it because you can run chemical media when you need it like Phos. Sponge and Carbon.... or anything else you may need for a quick fix, plus it keeps my water crystal...
