I just got 2 small ricordea mushrooms and 1 small umbrella. on this site it says they need medium light. I have a 250w MH HQI pendant over my tank, where should I place them, lower, middle or upper regions of the rock structure??

I have a 1.5 inch deep sandbed in my 29 display, how many nass. snails will I need to keep it sifted effectively?

Check the level of phosphates in your water. Mine are high and my corraline grows very slowly.

jhstone696 - I see you are located in Pittsburgh, just wondering what LFS you go to, im still trying to find one I really like in the area.

I think phosphates could also be a problem. I have high level of phosphates (not for long) and mine grows at a slow pace. Can't wait to lower em and see if it works.

I second the Aqua C Remora, definatley worth the price and perfect for your size tank. I run one on my 29 and the water quality is outstanding. I also run a 250 w MH HQI Pendant over my tank, perhaps a little more than necessary, but also worth the investment.

Salifert is probably the best out there, and if you order a bunch online, the shipping turns out to be inexpensive per kit. The prices on this site are the same price as the cheaper kits that the local LFS sells!

I also highly recommend the Aqua C Remora, it works extremely well as soon as you start it and once it kicks in your water clarity increases dramatically.

I would say first calculate the total weight of all your equipment, rocks, sand, water and tanks to make sure the floor can support everything.

Get a test for ammonia, that may be the problem.

The Aqua C Remora runs fairly quiet, it does not bother me.

That would be fine, you can easily do 10-12 inch away without any major heat problems.

I run a 250 MH over my 29 and it works great. I keep it almost a foot off the water, and run a fan and heat is no problem. It also definately reaches all areas of the tank, you dont want the whole thing under strong lighting anyway.

MH will allow you to keep pretty much anything you want, but they will run you 400 easy. You could also consider VHO's or PC lighting.
