    cycle complete?

Did you notice an ammonia spike? High nitrities should signal that your ammonia spike has completed... make sure your trites and ammonia are both at 0 and your trates are hovering around 10ppm.... if they have been that way for a few days (or up to a week if you want to be safe) then add a...

nope not a stupid question :) get very fine grain sand. If you can find Southdown buy up a few bags of that (about 1.50 to 5.00 a bag depending) and use that. I've got it in my tank and I love it... looks awesome! I did not use any live sand as I could not afford it... but I did seed the bed...

    Phosphate sponge

Algae Algae Algae. I HATE algae. Sorry. :o After 6 months I have finally overcome my algae problem using a combination of weekly water changes and Kent Phos. Sponge in my Fluval. So to answer your question... yes it will work, but it will take time. Still having sand-bed difficulties though...

    I Need Feed Back !!!!

Something regarding LFS responsibility was posted a few months back, someone had bought a critter that was known to be posionous and it totally destroyed the tank. It sparked quite a flurry of responses. IMO (this applies in regards to your friend) it is always the end-users fault. The LFS can...

    Coraline on Glass

Thanks for all the replies! I'm gonna try the credit card thing again tomorrow as I am a little hesitant to go to town with a razor blade on my glass. I don't have enough for it to be a problem. However it seems to be multiplying every day.... Thanks again! Cheers :)

    Coraline on Glass

What is the best method to remove coraline (i'm assuming thats what the pink spots are that are all over my tank) from the glass? I did a search and found out that people use an old credit card... that didn't seem to do the trick (but maybe i wasn't pressing hard enough)... my Magfloat won't...

    Opinion on this addition...

hey thanks for the info! perhaps i'll hold off on the hermits... however the ones that i have in there now are doing an ok job at keeping my rock clean... though they can't keep up :)

    Opinion on this addition...

My tank has been set-up for about 6 months, I currently have about 20 hermits (blue) and 4 Astrea's (they can't keep up w/ alage:D ) and one Clarkii clown who is doing well. I want to add about 24 more bluelegs, 10 astreas, and a fighting conch. My sandbed is a disaster, will the fighting conch...

Switching from FOWLR Crushed Coral to DSB

My first tank was CC with a UGF... the switch was worth all the hassle.. fortunately I was able to do it without having to worry about livestock... that would have been a pain... make use of that QT and wait for everything to settle down in the main tank and you should be good to go. Good luck...

    live rock question

i agree with brian, the dieoff from any LR you order online will cause an ammonia spike. If you don't have fish this is a perfect way to kick start your cycle... if you do have fish
