any suggestions on our 1st tank

welcome, we sounded just like you guys a year ago, Just a few thought and helpful suggestions that we found out the hard way. 1, live rock must be cured for at least a week before placing in a tank. We use a large bucket with a powerhead( it's used to move water). 2, I don't know what type of...

    HELP!!! Gonipora Question

My lighting is fine, I read the hyperlink that was attached, I did start target feeding with a baster. It seams to have helped slow down the death of the coral. I will continue to fed and see what happens. I also premix a solution of foods for everything else and that is working great.

    HELP!!! Gonipora Question

I just started direct feeding and am hoping that helps. My water parameters are right on according to my LFS. The tank, overall, has a very high flow rate due to the amount of filtrations and powerheads. I did read that these coral will sometimes produce a jelly like substance to help trap...

:help: I bought this GREAT Gonipora about 2 weeks ago and put it my well establiched tank. All my fish, inverts, coral are very, very happy. Sebae Anemone eats Perc

Yeah...I was pretty horrified and have not put in any other fish since. It was something I never knew could happen and wouldn't have believed it unless I actually saw it with my own eyes.

    Sebae Anemone eats Perc

Yellow Tangs are pretty terratorial. My offenders are a yellow tang, tomato clown and a dwarf angel. I"m not kidding: 20 minutes and there wasn't a bone or scale left in the tank. Like a school of pirahannas.

    Intake pipe and Anemone

Yup. Mine did. certain types of anemones like to "travel" and if the let loose and try to move, the suction from the intake tubes sucks them in. Put a piece of sponge tube covering over the tube and that helps.

    Sebae Anemone eats Perc

What other fish do you have in your tank? Have they been there for a while? I had the same issue and discovered that it wasn't the anemone but rather the established fish. My clown was gone by morning...not a scale or bone to be found. When I tried it again, I watched it carefully for a...

    Aggressive Angel

My Heniochus is doing better. I took given advice and rearranged the tank, turned out the light but I put Heniochus in a floating basket for a day then released him. He seems to be ok and everyone is leaving him alone so far.....

    Packrat Sea Urchin

I have a Purple Sea Urchin who is extremely happy and very active. He "gathers" as he goes along. He picks up shells, plants, crabs and a Pink Tip Anemone! The anemone loves to go for a ride and is quite happy on top of the urchin. Anybody have any experience with this behavior?
