it dosen't work that way,you have to take into consideration the pump rating gallon per minute and if the pump has to push the water upgrade ,that will determin the gpm on any pump first start the pump into a gallon bucket of water see how many seconds it takes to fill then x 60=gpm m.l.

well im glad to hear your planning to keep nothing with it because the octo would eat it anyway,i think i would go at least 50 gallons min with a octo they need room to scavage at night

the skimmer should have enough water so the bubbles should flow into the collection cup after a period of time ,but the foam should be dry and not bursting with water,if this is a new install start out with water level 2 inch form top of tube before the collection cup
