Clownfish - Part Time ******** Decorator

The rock is easily the size of a small orange and probably just as heavy. It stunned me that a fish that tiny could push that rock over. I will have to get some adhesive.

    Damsels

Go back in time and not buy Damsels! They are evil. I have made a water bottle trap, it works. But, you have to be there ready to cover up the entrance or they will just leave.

Changing Substrate in an Established tank?

You can rinse the new sand with salt water before you add it to the tank. That removes a lot of the really fine particles that cloud up the water. Use a regular fish net, put the new sand in it, and rinse it! What I would suggest is sucking out the old sand with a large plastic tube instead of...

6 month old tank (new algae)

I only thought cyano created gas. That looks green with bubbles. Whatever it is, I would get it out before the bubbles float away the algae and it settles in other places and spreads like crazy.

Nano Tanks - What is the best brand?

I really like the 34 gallon RedSeaMax. The stock biocubes have rather poor lighting so I would have to spend money to upgrade the lighting. That would be around the same price as the RSM. The RSM has T5 lighting, is that good enough lighting to allow some of the soft and hard corals to thrive...

Clownfish - Part Time ******** Decorator

After I got my rbta and my maroon took to it the next day, I was cleaning my tank and re-arranging a few things to accomodate some new corals. I put some corals near the rbta. The next morning, they were on the sand. I thought that my turbo snail, he is pretty big, probably knocked it over. I...

    overkill in a 12g

I would say it is overkill. All I have in a 14g is a juvenile maroon clown, a baby yellow watchmen, and a juvenile firefish. I think the rule of thumb is 5 gallons per every inch of fish. As its already been said, you will have to get rid of fish as they get older. Also, two clowns will become...

    About to fire my CUC

Get a maroon clown. Mine for some odd reason likes to stir up the sand around its anemone. It gets right above the sand and then starts flapping its tail like it is about to blast off into space and it goes right in the anemone:D But, the sand is pristine in about a 6 inch radius from that...

Nano Tanks - What is the best brand?

I am going to upgrade from my tiny 14 g Biocube nano in a couple of months. I have been saving money and researching different nano brands. I am looking for something in the 30 range (25-35). I will have enough money to buy whatever is the best brand. What are the pros and the cons of each...

    Anemones

I believe the balling up is because they are exchanging the water inside of them.

    Anemone Question / Revamp

I feed my nems silver sides. They have all the nutrients that an anem could need because they are frozen and not processed or dried. There are some trace elements that also need to be added to the tank like iodine. But, if you have a reef tank with corals, chances are you add trace elements in...

    Anemone Question / Revamp

If it's unhealthy, chances are more than likely that it will die. You also realize that once it is healthy, it will look a lot different than it does now. Most LFS have haitian anemones. They look beautiful white with their pink or purple tips. However, those are unhealthy nems. Healthy ones are...
