Filtered water does not remove all the nutrients from tap water. Start using RO water. You even admitted your mistake! "Everything seemed to be doing fine until I started using Instant Ocean to mix my own saltwater (using filtered water)."

I would say if it is a small anemone....no. They are both very aggressive territory wise so I would probably say it is a no go. Your clown sleeps in the anem and if there is a territory dispute, the nocturnal crab may claw your clown and kill it. If it is a large anem like a carpet...maybe?

I would say it is a no go for the sea water as well because you aren't getting the same pristine water that is in the reefs. Beach water is usually dirty anyways...along with pollution.

I would never put a huge fish tank on anything but a floor on a concrete slab or floor built with metal beams. Any fish tank on a floor built on wood beams is going to be bad. The wood will bend and warp over time and possibly even splinter or break.
