reef safe?

Look at about a 500 minimun for an adult. Basically, they look like a spadefish without stripes when they are older. They lose all that cool finnage as they get older also.

    Queen Conchs?

I just got mine today whoo hoo!! Seriously, they are supposed to be excellent stirrers/algae eaters and have been reported to eat cyanobacteria. But then again I have heard red leg hermits are supposed to and I have never seen or heard personally of them eating it. I plan on bringing mine back...

    Lighting for a 29 gallon...

Great size tank! My 29 has 2x65 watt PC's(both 10,000K) and 2x75 VHO(both actinic). BY the old rule of thumb (which really isnt that accurate) I have about 9 watts/gallon. Good luck with it!

    aquacultered reef rock

Yeah really nice stuff! I have some of this. Really cool Gulf corals on it. The only prob is u have to cure it youself. For me, this wasn't a problem cuz I had an extra tank and skimmer. I really was satisfied with it! BTW, the only thing that dies off during curing is the sponges. everything...

Geez, thats a lot for that size Queen! At the LFS I work at, we sell for juvi-(1-3)in $40, sub adult-(4-6in.)$80 and adult (7-9in.)$100. Once we special ordered a real briusier (1 foot) and it went for $200. All of our Caribbean fish are very cheap cuz we get them direct from a Florida...

    Urchin ID Please

It looks like a Stomopneustes Variolaris to me. I have a similar urchin, Parasalenia Gratiosa. Both are totaly harmless algae eaters. The only negative is they also munch on coralline algae as do all urchins. This is why I took him out of my 10 gallon which does'nt have good coralline growth...

    Black Perculas? W/PICS

Lemme clear a few things up. First, because of the captive breeding of True Percula Clowns(A. percula), some color varieties have slowly began to emerge. No-bar, 2-bar and the infamous Black percula are results of this. Soon, you will be able to buy different color varieties just as you can...

    An Odd Assortment

Hello everyone, I was recently over at my neighbor's house who has a 125 FO tank. I was really suprised at the combination of fish he had in it and how they reacted to each other. He has: 1 yellow tang 7 in. 2 female orange tail damsels 2 in. 1 Blackcap Basslet 4 in. 1 Goldstripe Maroon Clown 6...

    bat fish?

Something around 500 will do. They lose all of their coloration and finnage when older ending up a silvery, kinda round fish. Looks kinda like an overgrown discus. When I was in Vegas this summer, the one hotel had 2 in a 20,000 FO. They were both around 20 inches long. For an easy referance...

New Lion and Porcupine not eating

They are acclimating. Give them a few days. Fish can go quite a while without eating. Lions and pork puffers are both very hearty eaters and just have to get their appetites up.

Why does all marine tanks has no background wallpaper?

I have a background that fades from dark blue to black. I think using a blue or black backgound makes the fish stand out better. Backgrounds with patterns kind of camoflage the fish.

    zoe, garlic??

ZOE is a mineral/vitamin supplement. Garlic is an Ick preventative. Soaking foods in both of these will give them better nutrition and keep their immune systems up.

    Tang Broccoli

To fix HLLE, land based veggies are about the worst thing. Try nori or seaweed selects soaked in Selcon or ZOE.

    What fish should I get?

Nix the maroon, these are the big, tough guy clowns. Try percs or occelaris. And probably only one firefish and one gramma. Definitely get the 6 line they are great!

    scarlet reef crab?

Mexicans get about the size of a baseball and have white spots on their legs. If you provide big shells for them to move into they are interesting to watch but, are NOT REEF SAFE!. True scarlets stay small and are totally reef safe. They don not have spots on their legs and have a yellow face.

Hey guys this is kinda a just-for-fun poll. What is the neatest hitch hiker you have gotten on LR/LS? Mine in order would go: Cerith Snails (they bred i now have about 5 that made it to maturity from 2) Peacock Mantis Shrimp (this was quickly killed while curing my Aquacultured rock but...
