iff possible add the tank to your main tank, so you dont have to worry abotu filtration, that would eb est, but if something happens to the main tank like a spike, it will affect the frags.

how old are your lights and what kinds are they? what do you feed, how often, what is your phosphate level? many fragging tanks are based on sunlight liek ORA's corals cultivating tanks, they are lit by sun, and antibacterial is a no-no, dishwashing soad is what you want, no resudue after words...

with frag tanks you want the least amount of mutrients, so. Good protien skimmer, carbon, no fish, nice lights (MHs), no sandbed, you can have live rock, but eggcrate racked made of eggcrate and PVC are alot better, easy to place frags on, and deasy for flow. what kinda frags?

ok well turbos are not reef safe because they dont come from tropical climates, they are colder water snails that dotn have good survival rates in 80* water, and most reefs run around 79*-81* they slowly die away, i have one, and it eats diatom growing on glass. Astrea snails are great...

id say money, so your parents dont have a screw around with what to buy and stuff, what is they get something you can handel like a sea apple or a tang! lol maybe ask for money, and go with them to the LFS and see what they like, kinda drag more people into the hobby.

why not get a 14k or a 20k MH bulb then if addition light will be a problem, i love my Hamilton 14k and whithout suppliments they are white

a 175W MH woudl work awesome! and as many PC bulbs as you could get on there, pack as much light as you caa, as long as you can cowap with heat.
