    Anenomes kill mandarins?

Healthy fish that come from areas that have anemones seldom get caught by one. They recognize them and just inherently avoid them. After reading what happened though, something I'd never thought of before popped into my mind, maybe fish don't recognize them under actinic lighting.

    Arrgghh Ich - Harlequin

Sorry, my bad, for some reason I was thinking of something else. There goes my tank cred with m' fishomies.

    harlequin shrimp

I eventually got mine to only eat starfish 1 out of 4 feedings, the rest of the time they ate silversides. I fed them the kind of starfish you see dried at craft stores. They're about 3" and a plain sandy brown color.

    clown harrasing rock anenome

They may not prefer them but not going in them is a bit of a stretch. In captivity they will host whatever most closely resembles an anemone in the tank. they may even host a fake plastic rock anemone or even a picture of one in the tank background.

New fish in QT, should I do hyposalinity if no signs of ich?

As they say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

    equipment to go with QT

Penguin is a hang on back type. Hagen HOB's work well too because they use block shaped filter media. You can put some biological filter media from the DT' filtration in it when you need it. My favorite piece of equipment for a qt, although expensive, is a uv sterilizer. A diatom filter is...

Ocellaris Clown and Long Tentacle Anemone

Hard to say % of chance wise, but they will host them.

    Arrgghh Ich - Harlequin

Your sand bed doesn't look deep enough for him. they need about 4" or more to completely bury themselves to sleep or they stress out. If alone in the qt they don't care, but in the presence of other fish it becomes an issue.

My son desires a saltwater aquarium....help!!!

What kind of equipment does he have already from his fresh water setup? Some of it may be usable for his salt tank. A fish only (FO) is fairly easy. Considering how much fresh water experience he has and the fact that it's being approached with patience, he should do ok. The biggest difference...

Best way to store empty tank

I've never heard of a tank going bad. I used to go to fish club auctions and we'd buy and sell tanks that had been empty for many years. Like someone said clean it with vinegar. I store them upside down which helps keep the silicon soft, and never set anything on top of them. Also avoid places...

    Perfecto link ???

Their site is under construction. They never used to sell to the public. That would be competing with their own customers.

    Dusky headed jawfish pics

IMO, always quarantine all incoming fish. The best lfs's in the world have sudden unforeseen outbreaks. Theres nothing wrong with throwing a couple inches of sand in the qt for a fish that needs it. The only problem is when medicating the sand may absorb some meds. Tiny plastic beads can be used...

    banner fish and cowfish?

For future reference, "what do they eat" is something you should ask before you buy a wild animal to care for.

    Are sea monkeys brine shrimp?

Who are they marketing those to? Anybody that straps brine shrimp to their wrist to not be lonely has a serious problem. You guys probably aren't old enough to remember these (this was the late 60's) but they used to make platform shoes with live goldfish in the heels. Groovy. (sorry alyssia, my...

any 1 have a potters angel?

Try asking if anyone has a Potters over a year old. Take a look at Rusty Angels, same basic colors and they aren't prone to "sudden fish death syndrome". and, they're on sale Rusty

    A happy clown....and a problem

I'd put the anemone back in the dt. No need to quarantine it. He might look terrible to you but that doesn't make him sick. He probably would have looked better even quicker in the dt since they rely on light.

    Tank Raised Clowns

Heres my scientific formula for telling them apart. If the tank is marked "tank bred" they are tank bred, if it isn't, they are either wild, or under priced.

Bring to me, your friendly oppinions!

I'd have to agree that smaller species of puffer and lion would make that combo ok. The only bad scenario that comes to mind would be feeding live foods, especially shrimp. If the lion corrals the shrimp over to a rock the eel is under you could have trouble.

    Lost Sense of Smell?

After 2 years suddenly getting bored with his food doesn't sound logical. It does sound like a sight problem, with the bumping into things and only going after food on the surface. His eyes wouldn't necessarily appear any different. You could get a tank divider and coral him to one side when...

    Could someone describe the loveshake?

They will do it if sometimes if they see their reflection in the glass. It kinda looks like a shiver.
