    First casualty of a powerhead

This is a very good learning experience for all new comers. Sorry, though that it happened to yours. Intakes will also make mush out of nudibranchs also. So, use sponge prefilters whenever having anemones and nudi's. A good water change and running new carbon will help with any pollutants that...

    Cloudy water

Cloudy water can really be from many different things. Could a frag be dieing? A leather for instance can really foul water up quickly. Algae spores can cloud water. Have you done a water change?

every fish that goes into my tank dies.

Well since the tank has had ick, I would run it fishless for 4-6wks to be sure to starve the cycle of ick. You are probably right that the pygmy brought something in. The inverts will not die to ick, so the water perameters must be ok. They usually die if the perameters are really out of whack...

    Sea Fan Progress

Excellent recovery. Thanks for sharing. Amazing what a little bit of current will do for certain corals.

    New Crocea Clam - Pic!

That is indeed a crocea. I would try to attach it to a rock up in the rockwork. I did mine on a piece of lace rock, and then cornered it by other rocks until it attached. It can take up to a week for the clam to attach firmly enough that a fish, or water current don't blow it down, or itself for...

    Candy Cane Coral Question

The best way to tell if the coral is doing ok is that the flesh of the coral is swollen, and feeder tentacles are out. Feeder tentacles may not always come out, but you should see them at some point during the day or night. Mine are out most of the time, especially when the fish are being fed...

    a little upset

That is stunning rock. Eventhough you will have to somewhat cure it, probably not long though, it is well worth the trouble. OUTSTANDING!!

    My new Bangaii's

The second one appears to be the male from the jaw. Good luck, they will spawn if the tank is to their specs.

    your most dominate fish??!?!?!

Without a bat of an eyelash it is my cinnamon clownfish......nasty fish. Not to other fish, just me!!!............Here she is in all her glory. I can't put my hand anywhere in the tank without taking it out with a bite in it.

Mag 3 or Rio 1400 for Aqua C Pro?

I have the Rio 1400 on mine, going on 2 1/2 yrs, no problem. But, will say that if it goes out, I will get the mag. Can never have too much power on the pump with a skimmer.

    Nori?? dry seaweed

If you are feeding it to the clown, it may never eat it. Clownfish are carnivores mostly, so feeding it algae based foods is not a food of choice. Nori is usually fed to tangs or other herbivores. Try mysis, or formula one pellet, flake, or frozen preferably.

    What is this funky thing?

Most likely a sponge or tunicate. Good to have.....filter feeder. Just be careful not to expose it to air now that you know it is there. If it dies it will polute the tank. Transport it in water to the tank with water.

What do dying shrooms look like?

Ammonia chips are only for freshwater tanks, not saltwater. I would remove those.

Anybody out there keeping lps w/ leathers?

I have many leathers, LPS , SPS, clams, and softies in a 125g with an aggressive skimmer, and run carbon 24/7. I have had this scenario for 29 months now with only one SPS dieing. My fault, it was downwind from my figi yellow leather.

    fox coral

10 inches off the water level is fine. Just shade them somewhat. I used a larger size live rock above the fox coral to shade about half of the coral. Just place the coral where you want and leave it be for awhile. Moving them too often will make it stay closed. Only time will tell if your lights...
