    100degf water temp!!!

That is what I did, bought a 2 way splitter. I had a Won Bros controller stick on and caused my temp to rise to 97.6 degrees. I had another that wouldnt turn on. Anyway I found a controller made by Finnex. It was less than 40 dollars. I pluged the 2 way splitter into that. I then cut the...

Lots of bubble algae in Refugium. O.K.?

They say that Emerald crabs will at them but I would think that as soon as the crab pops the bubble, the spores will be released. I've only ever had one bubble algae. I did a water change and knocked the bubble loose and sucked it out with the syphon. I did this so in case the bubble did pop...

Help (tell me if im right)

You might also want to increase the amount of live rock. You should have about 1 1/2 to 2 pounds per gallon. I dont think you have 1 pound per gallon. I also just reread your posts and I think the prolem might be that your tap water has 5ppm nitrates. So in actuality, when you do a water change...

Lots of bubble algae in Refugium. O.K.?

You have to get them out. They are filled with tiny algae spores. If they bust, all those spores will get pumped through to your DT and then you will have it in there.

Help (tell me if im right)

It sounds like you need to do more and bigger water changes. Try doing 25 gallon water changes every couple days, that will do it.

    What size heater?

Yes, you can put both in the sump. If you have the funds available, look into heaters with separate controllers. I found a controller made by Finnex, its been working great. Scsi, dont throw those heaters away. Just cut the controller off and put a new plug on the end, then plug it into a...

    What size heater?

You are going to need more than 200 watts to heat that much water. Dont forget you have to account for the water in your sump. Assuming that you have 20 gal of water in your sump, that would give you 95 gallons of water. To properly heat your water, you need 5 watts per gallon, that gives you...

    LFS near Philly...

The Hidden Reef was the best around here. There prices seem to be a bit higher than they were but still better than most around here. Cant wait until the fish room opens. Water Pets is extremely overpriced although they do have nice selection f fish and corals. I have to agree, their customer...

    ID needed

While doing maintenance on my tank today I found these weird tube like things sticking out from a piece of rock. I couldnt see them at first because they were hidden behind some Coraline that I couldnt get to. Anyway, there are about 12 of them about 1/16" in diameter. They appear to be a pale...

going to make sump out of 29g, does it matter the material for baffles?

I think the problem here is that people are using names interchangebly here. Plexiglas, acrylic etc. I myself am not sure which is which, but I do know that I built my sump with what I believe is pexiglass, it may be acrylic, not sure. Come to think of it, it may even be Lexan. My point is that...

    copperband butterfly vs. raccoon butterfly

The Copperband is my favorite but it is a very delicate fish. It needs very pristine water parameters. It is also known to nip at polyps and feather dusters The Racoon is more aggressive and can tolerate less than perfect water. Both are good at eating Aipstasia, hopefully the above info will...

add just one more ? i think i know what everyone will say ...

50 is still not low enough, get it down to zero. 20 would be ok but zero is better. To give you a better analogy of what you are doing: Suppose you ere in a sealed room, no air in, no air out. You would breath the air in and your body would absorb some oxygen out of the air. You would exhale...
