    Hardness and alkalinity

Your calcium levels also depend on what you are trying to keep. Typical coral just 400 for SPS and clams i would keep it 450 or a little higher.

    false perc breeding questions

You have to seperate the fry at least into their own tank. The parents will guard the eggs with their life. Once the fry are hatched they need a liquid fry feeder. Most lfs carry some form of it. Look around for it. I don't know if zooplankton is to big for them though. You could try that...

    Hardness and alkalinity

A high alkalinity i think inhibits calcification. Thus a coral can't properly use the calcium in the water. A too low alk will subject your tank to ph swings. Beyond what else it does im not entirely sure.

    Tang loves shrimp.

Macro algaes. Caulerpa. Check your live store they should get some in every now and again if they don't grow it themselves. There are plenty of other people who grow it too if you look around some for it.

i just dont know what lighting i should get....i keep getting different info

If you want to keep some clams get a dual 175 or dual 250 halides one for each side of your tank. You also need 2 vho tubes to supplement actinics. Now heres the thing. Everything you WANT to keep except the clams need half the light of the halides. Sooooo you could just get 3 or 4 four...

    crabs and protein

If you are cycling then turn the skimmer off, you are just delaying the cycle. Clean up crew can be added when your parameters come down. Treat them like a fish. Especially the snails and shrimp. Crabs are a little more forgiving. Copious bubbles are a sign of alot of organics in the...

    Filtration Question

Not really no. The rock handles ammonia and nitrogens, and the skimmer handles everything else. I would place a prefilter in the sump, just a sponge, to collect the big stuff as it circulates. If you want to run carbon every now and again in the sump.... You don't even need the live sand...

    Plan "B"

Buy some saltwater biozyme. It's beneficial bacteria for a tank and may help to clear up your problem in time. Once you get past the ammonia phase you just need nitrifying bacteria i believe which is what the biozyme is.

    Flame Hawk - Cleaner Shrimp??

It is possible since cleaners are generally regarded by alot of fish to not be food. BUT its an iffy proposition and you need to watch each of them if you decide to get one. My guess is its a 50/50 chance. Try doing the shrimp first then the fish...

    lemonpeel angel

They are a typical dwarf angel. Like his description said. Diet is key to keeping one happy. Buy a variety of frozen foods and make sure the one you buy is eating as always. They are finicky.

do i need to feed mushrooms?

You don't have to feed persay but if you want to add phytoplankton or zooplankton to your water column it can only make them happier :) Just be carefull not to over dose the stuff.

    lighting question......open brain

I have a red/green brain under 30 watts of flourescents. He's 6 inches from the light. It couldn't be any healthier. He expands to three times his skeleton size when the lights are on. He's gorgeous but i don't have a pic. I do other things as well such as phytoplankton in the water column...
