    Cloudy

Either slow the water down, remove the sand, or try to devise a way where the dirty water from tank is released into the sump through a baffle of some sort...like a water brake.

    water pump

If money allows, get the bigger pump, you can always put a ball valve inline to regulate the flow. Or, like what I did with one and in process of doing with the other, run a "T" off the return line to a ball valve and then you have an additional source for some flow if needed. Mine goes to a...

    Fluorescent wiring help...

How do you have it wired in? Don't need any switch. If you do not know, white is nuetral and black is the hot. The large side of the plug is the nuetral. If everything is ok with the wiring, then the something else is wrong with the fixture. If you bought it as a complete fixture, everything...

The wild caught and captive bred debate is a debate...I leave it be, don't offer opinions either way. If you decide on seahorses, from my own experience, this is what...

what's the best sealant to use on canopy?

The oil based Poly from Minwax is excellent for humid seal. For water splashes, etc (not submersion) use the Helmsman Spar, it is indoor/outdoor poly. One thing, if you stained with a light colored stain, both oil based poly;s will cause an amber tint to the piece. The Helmsman will be more...

Being the tactless, ruthless individual I am...I can't just let them stand there and talk out the buttocks...I let them finish and then make them feel stupid...and finish it up with a knowledge is power sort of comment... I recall the time I asked them why they didn't have any invertebres in...

    Airwaterice RO/DI Home/Reef Owners

Both my systems go through the final carbon and to the holding tank. I wanted them completely seperate where I do not drain or have to close the tank off to run the water through the DI on to the reef. In other words..I want someone to be able to fill a coffee pot while I am making water for the...

Beth in re: to your reply to Patrick G.. Doesn't you extra supply line (reef) come out of the end of the DI cylinder? If it doesn't it should. I think what the h2o dude was referring to with the full effect of the DI...was the lower pressure leaves the dwell time in the resins for longer...

For those who don't have a skimmer.

Rinsing your media in freshwater will kill all your nitrifying bacteria. That is a good idea using the old water to rinse things with.

    Airwaterice RO/DI Home/Reef Owners

Yes I have one. And yes it is the water from the storage tank going into your DI and onto the fish. There isnt any, well shouldn't be, difference in water quality as they both go through the final carbon filter. then the reef part on through the DI and the drinking to the faucet. The trickling...

    Airwaterice RO/DI Home/Reef Owners

It stays on. Off would not allow the tank to fill. While it is open...the water going to and through your DI is coming from the final carbon and the storage tank...that would explain the difference in pressure. With the valve off...you would only be getting water from the final carbon/membrane.
