More calcium = more coral growth

more calcium than 400ppm isn't going to do a thing. Elevated carbonates (10-12dKH opposed to 7-9ish) has been shown to potentially increase growth rates. Between calcium and carbonates almost ALL attention should be on carbonates (alkalinity) for coral growth and health. Calcium from 380-480...

    film algae

this is what I like about carbon (vodka/vinegar) dosing (not an option for this size tank). Virtually eliminates film algae for me (though sometimes replaces with white bacteria film when overdone. still more attractive than algae and more visable looking from the backside of the glass than...

    why so much algae?

drinking water definately could be contributing and the age of the tank. new set ups after cycling is when tanks often are prone to algae outbreaks. this is definately not the time to use compromised water. you'll need to keep phosphates low by any means and tackle the issue head on. Your rock...

What should I do please watch my video thanks so much

the phytoplex is definately not needed (will do more harm than good on your set up) and the essential elements wont do a thing either. you might try a miniscule amount of phytoplex when your sump is established IF you set up a fuge for pods in it but there are MUCH better live phyto options...

Help me spend my money I need a skimmer for a 10 gallon sump tank please post

well the first skimmer I used for a 10g sump/30g was the seaclone 100 about 5yrs ago and regardless of what people said it worked well for me and all the time. it was noisy and pretty much non adjustable (it was but only worked well with air valve wide open). you'll obviously want to pass on...

    Trace elements?

when it comes to trace elements I believe either dont do it at all or do it as trial and error. the problem with dont do it unless you test for it is a) there are no test kits for 90% of it b) you have no idea if its high or low to begin with from the original salt mix c) you have no idea of how...

who would win in a fight.....underlated trigger vs. clown trigger

this is kind of silly. the one that wins the fight would win. It already known undulated are more aggressive (clowns sometime even manage to coexist considerable time with other tank mates without destroying them). But still your talking about two fish with shell crushing teeth. anybody can win...

    New Product Announcement: Wild Toe

sounds like your sort of coral frenzy, reef chili, rods blend type all in one food product but I'd prefer a liquid based product over the dry ones (and maybe or maybe not frozen). Who cares how the directions say to feed, I broadcast feed ALL food at a dose I see fit determined by trial and...

Do you think your fish are happy?

I think they are happy everyday they get up something is not trying to EAT them and life is alot less stressful in that regard. For some reason people think fish are swimming around happy go lucky in the ocean. its a kill or be killed struggle for survival. its hard for a fish out there...
