    55 Gallon Saltwater Reef

A hippo would be better, but all three tangs would outgrow the tank eventually.

    55 Gallon Saltwater Reef

Your stock list does not sound bad but there are a few flaws that I see with it. The tank does not have enough live rock and is not large enough to support a powder blue tang, green brittle star, or horse shoe crab, three animals that will grow far too large for the aquarium.

    Anemone + salt = bonehead

Small hunk and one grain are very different. A small hunk would be more than enough to kill a nuisance anemone. The small hunk would have a similiar effect on a larger anemone. There is a tiny chance the anemone will make it, but realistically speaking, I would not count on it. If it were me...

    Compact lights

No, one halide over a 55 will cut it. As far as 150 or 250, it really depends on what kind of corals you want to keep. Either one of the lights will work for softies and LPS, but if you want to get into SPS, I would get the 250 watt halide.

    Lighting Differences

No, definitely not. A 150 watt PC light is much dimmer than a 150 watt metal halide light.

Either a 150 or 250 would be fine over your 55. In adding a halide though, I would change both PC's to actinic.

The problem is NOT disease... consider the following...

Joe, although I don't agree with your comments about reef fish not being able to be kept in reef aquariums, I really agree with the part of your post that said that hobbyists make poor decisions. I think more hobbyists need to think things out before they make decisions regarding their tanks...

When I perform hypo, I always do 1 or 2 points per every few hours. The slower the change the better. You could always put your inverts in a rubbermaid tub while you are doing hypo on the display tank.

    Nope. Not Torture.

The problem I have with waterboarding and other torture is all the people that are wrongly accused and get tortured. Look at the stories of Maher Arar and Sgt. Erik Sarr. Arar was a canadian who was rendered to Syria and tortured for two years in their prison and was only let free after the...
