I would not be afraid to use it. It far exceeds any pressure requirements that would be found in a aquarium setup. I use the long sweep ells on my pond plumbing and I run pumps at much higher pressures than a marine tank runs at and have never had a problem.

Get the pump up higher and it will make bubbles. No a air silencer is not required, but it should work with or without one if its setup right. No harm hanging the pump from the supplied tube. I have em hanging on that same type of tube for over a year and they never fell off.
