    humane way to kill fish

Well they use oil of clove as an anesthetic to knock a fish out so they can scope it or treat it in the koi world and it is proven to knock a fishout totally just like a person getting put under an anesthetic, so put it under a deep sleep and then serve up the coupe de grace' with a knife or...

    Sexy Anemone Shrimp

I have never ever made any special accomodations for any of my inverts. They get scraps here and there and are very adapt at getting food and whatever it takes to survive and thrive.

    so i bleached some rocks

They could have been scrubbed under regular tap water just fine if yur intent was to kill algae. Once under sand they will not grow any algae anyhow. Seems crazy to arbitrarily kill live rock to get base rock though, but the old saying different strokes for different folks fits it just fine.

    humane way to kill fish

Get some clove oil, put fish in anonther container, add some clove oil, wait until fish rolls over. If adding clove oil fish does not roll over in a minute or two add some more clove oil. Just use a container large enough to put fish in and enough water to support and cover fish. Once fish rolls...

    maxi jet 1200 problem

When a powerhead starts to produce bubbles without having a venturi or airline attached, and its fully submerged, odds are its in need of a good cleaning. Its cavitating, which is actually thrashing water to the point its inducing air into it....................

    Tub bucket and heater

It matters not if the heater touches the plastic or not. The water itself is too large of a heat sink for it to do any damage. You could use those heaters in a cereal box of water and not worry.

    tank paint.

Where di yu ever come up with the theory that windex leaks into a tank andkills fish. Thats a bunch of bull hockey...Use any kind of paint you want, its not going to hurt a thing......brand means nothing, use latex, acruylic enamel, lacquar krylon, rustoleum it all works.....only difference is...

    convert a pc into a retro ????

To get a decent longer power cord just buy a suitable extension cord and cut to length to suit, or buy some SJ type wire and a replaceable plug end. You may find it hard to find a socket for panasonic or european PC bulbs locally. I know in this area they are not to be found. However those on...

Can you use Gray PVC conduit?

Well the rich and famous koi keepers have no problems using it in their high dollar ponds. Its a mainstay of koi ponds with the large radius sweep ells etc it reduces lots of back pressure normally acquired with standard pressure or DWV fittings. If it was an issue I do not think those folks...

    What paint for tank

Gloss will be better if you get water and salt on it. It will all look the same fropm inside the tank though no matter what finish it is, semi, flat or gloss. As for paint I like latex applied with a small 3" cheap foam roller. I buy the cheapest latex paint I can find at big box or wally world...

    Watchman Goby/Pistol Shrimp Combo

I put a piston shrimp in one of our tanks in early November. I already had a watchman goby in the tank. The pistol shrimp landed on the bottom and walked along the live rock and right off the watchman goby spotted the shrimp. This goby "always" sets on the sandy bottom or on the rock at the...

Can you use Gray PVC conduit?

I would not be afraid to use it. It far exceeds any pressure requirements that would be found in a aquarium setup. I use the long sweep ells on my pond plumbing and I run pumps at much higher pressures than a marine tank runs at and have never had a problem.

    Need Help! Super Skimmer 220

Get the pump up higher and it will make bubbles. No a air silencer is not required, but it should work with or without one if its setup right. No harm hanging the pump from the supplied tube. I have em hanging on that same type of tube for over a year and they never fell off.

    Live Sand

Yes, its all possible to create a cycle, which will probably be a mini cycle, but a cycle stil the same. There is no telling how long that sand is laying around in that package and how it was shipped and stored. There is bound to be some dead stuff in that sand even if its wetpacked. And...

    zooanthids...button polps

I do not think they unstuck themselves and jumped of a rock. They do not have a means of moving as such and probably their adhesion to the rock came undone and the water current pushed them off. As stated prevoiusdly them only move by pushingout new polyps, not unfooting themselves and jumping...

    Live Sand

I would remove ALL crushed coral as if its covered over with sand it will work its way to the top and be exposed in short order. It will be an never ending chore, which you'll never win, to keep it covered. It can cause problems adding sand if there is any nutrients in it that can cause a...
