Can anyone tell me what this is? It has been in my tank for about 6+ months. It has only spread to one other rock. It covers about 7 inches of the rock and is about 4-5 inches high.

Most people use a 10 or 20 gallon as a QT.

You may be able to use a HOB skimmer on the 29 and use the 8g strictly as a fuge. I would skip the UV sterilizer.
