    Brand new-need help choosing products

As far as acrylic and glass tanks go, I always like to go with glass because algae seems to be so hard to get off the sides of acrylic tanks. See, acyrlic breaks under the magnet that is used to remove algae relatively easily and requires some hard-core scrubbing with a regular algae brush...

    OT: Getting to know you

In going back through the time I have spent on this website, I have found that the funniest and most liked thread was probably the ot one started by blondenaso. Since we have so many new members, and I felt that everyone on this board bonded and really got to know the people they were talking to...

Searcher, your cat looks so much like mine it's scary. Here are the three cats from the same litter (one of them dissappeared a few months ago :( ).

    before and after pics

j21kickster, I am in shock. That is one of the best looking tanks I have ever seen (besides Beth's, of course, but no one can beat Beth's tank). I think I will aim to have a tank that looks as good as that when I start mine. ;)

Time to gripe about your LFS!!

If you want to know what pet stores do with dead fish... the one I worked at fed them to his turtles when they were already dead. At *****, dying fish are put into the freezer to finish dying. The worst part is, they do this with ALL their animals, from snakes to birds to fish to hamsters. And...

What's it like having the Whitecheek? I'm considering getting one when I get my 180 instead of a powder blue because they're so hard to take care of. Any advice?

Here's my fw tank and one of my cats before we moved to Houston. Now the girls love to chasr my fish (especially the loach) by pawing around the outside of the tank and running back and forth. :D

Can you tell me any thing about SEA APPLES?

Many consider the Pseudocolochirus violaceus a high-maintenance specimen. Venomous, it will secrete poisonous membranes if it dies. Aggressive when tentacles hook something. Ultra-sensitive to alkalinity changes, and will be venomous if it dies. It requires an expert reef keeper. HTH :)

    Qt

Basically, a qt is the same as a regular tank, only it doesn't have all the fish and pretty rockwork, etc., etc. in it. The qt is a great place to put a fish if it is sick so it does not contaminate the tank and you can treat it without worrying about the treatment getting anyone else sick...

    starfish

You might want to wait awhile after the tank has cycled, maybe 6 months are so since starfish need very stable and mature systems to thrive in. If it is a type of linkia, I would not suggest getting it for a 29 at all, since they also require very large tanks. Hopefully, ophiura will chime in...

    How do Fish Sleep

I don't know if this has anything to do with how aquarium fish sleep, but I know sharks sleep as they swim, because they don't have an air bladder, and would fall to the bottom and die should they stop at any time. Air must always be moving through their gills, hence they must sleep swimming...
